someone once told me that a baby looks like it's father in the first two years of life (supposedly so that they could be sure of paternity back when there was no DNA testing) just curious if anyone thinks this is true based on their child.
DS looks EXACTLY like DH so for me this is true

Re: since we're on the topic....
I don't understand. That would be a terrible way of determining paternity.

it's just something i heard and thought I'd ask. And way back when there probably wasn't any better way of knowing
DS1 looks exactly like me.
DS2 has my coloring, but doesn't look a lot like eithre of us.
I think that OWT is ridiculous. lol
I heard that too and was a strong believer of it when one of my friends had a son 6 years ago that looked EXACTLY like her husband. Another friend's son who is only a month older than my DS looks so much like his father it creeps me out... since his father used to be my boss.
Unfortunately for my DH my DS looks exactly like me. Sometimes, when he's sleeping I'll suddenly be struck with DH's face in my little boy, but otherwise I don't see it. My mom will comment on photos, sometimes, that DS looks just like DH, but neither DH or I see it. DS has my big blue eyes, my big smile, my dimple in the right cheek only, and I was a baldy baby too. He is tall like his daddy though... so there's that.
DS looks just like DH when he was a baby.
I heard somewhere it was instinctual for a man when he sees a child to look for features that would tell him if the child is his. When women look at a child they don't have the same instinct because we obviously know when a child is our own.
There was no question with DS, he came out looking exactly like DH. Only just recently are people starting to tell me that they see me in him. F has my eyes, ears and funny baby toe the rest is DH.
Ok I am slightly tired, so maybe I am misunderstanding or having a moment, but how does an animal even know what they look like, as in reflection? It isn't like mr. Lion looks in the mirror and say wow that cub looks just like me, it has the same facial characteristics. I would think that they would rely on their sense of smell and hearing if they had to use senses other than sight. Um I'm not even sure what I said just made sense! Wow after retreading this I sound wacky! Anyway Ds looks a lot like me now, but did look just like DH for the first few months after birth.
Hahaha I love this, mostly because of the mr. Lion story. I don't know much about that, but DS looks like me. He's 6 months and we are just now starting to see DH!

when dd was born i thought she looked just like me....i'm having a hard time finding dh in her anywhere.....she has my chin dimple...my big eyes...but my head was like, oblong when i was born, and dh has a nice round head like dd....
she actually looks like my niece and nephew when they were babies...and looks like my sister's baby pic too....
i've heard my side of the family all say she looks like a "my maiden name here" but my dad thinks she looks like my fil
of course dh's family all think she looks like him....and mil is always saying "oh she does this, just like her father used to" "her hair is spikey just like his was" "she does this just like her aunt" "oh she'll be just like her father walking at 11 months"...it's getting annoying...she does things like she does things because she's her....
DS looks like his dad quite a bit and sometimes he will look like my dad when he smiles/laughs. It's weird because DS looks nothing like me and somewhat like my dad and I definitely take after my dad. Even my babysitter's daughter has said 'wow, he looks nothing like you! he's the spitting image of his dad' lol
