Two Under 2

Two days!

I've posted here before and introduced myself, but it's been a few months I would say. Anyway, i am having an RCS on Wednesday and am getting extremely nervous about how my 13 month old dd is going to handle her baby brother. Any btdt moms have any advice? Obviously she's to young to really understand or explain what's going on....her poor tiny world is about to be rocked!
Sweet little girl AMM born 6/13/12 via scheduled csection. Surprised with a pregnancy in September, 2012 which ended in MC in October at 7.5 weeks. Surprised again(!) with another pregnancy in November. Baby due 7/19/13. Depo clearly does not work for us!

Mine are around 11 months apart and my older one was completely oblivious to it.  I hope it's the same for you.  We did not bring my older one to the hospital.  It would have been a nightmare.  We did the first introductions at our house.  GL!

  • Yes, yes it is. Mine are 14 months apart and my poor DS#1 didn't handle it very well. If you plan for her to act out and be a little difficult then things will be easier. My number one piece of advice is do whatever you can for sleep the first few months. I was all about not making the same mistakes I did with #1 and tried to get him in the crib from day 1. Well, #1 stopped STTN when #2 was born because we was getting his molars, so no one slept. This is a unique, stressful situation, so you can ignore the "rules" for a little bit just to keep your sanity.

  • Thanks all! My dd is a very laid back happy kiddo so I'm hoping she adapts well! We shall see, I think more of it is me feeling guilty for giving less attention to her then normal, especially in the next few weeks as I recover from my cs. I'm sure we'll find something that works for us as we get into our new life as a family of 4!

  • My DS2 and DD were 13mos apart too. DD handled it really well, the biggest hurdle for us was that she thought of DS2 as "her baby" and she was obsessed with anatomy at the time so she loved going to her baby and finding his ears, eyes, and nose. DS2 got worn A LOT! Lol, and he learned early that sometimes love hurts Wink
