At my first ultrasound at 7 weeks I found out I was having twins. After my doctor reviewed those scans she said it looks like the twins are in the same sac. I have to go to a specialist now to get another ultrasound to determine if that is the case. I am absolutely terrified. I have read so many scary things about MoMo twins. Has anyone had the experience of thinking their twins were in the same sac but later finding out that they were not? Does anyone have MoMo twins that are healthy? Very, very scared.
Re: Twins Possibly In Same Sac
I wouldn't worry at all yet. My regular OB didn't expect to be able to even find a dividing membrane at only 7 weeks. I had regular ultrasounds at 7,8, and 9 weeks, and they couldn't see a dividing membrane indicating two amniotic sacs. We went to see a MFM specialist at a little shy of 10 weeks. He had incredibly detailed ultrasound equipment, and we were able to see the dividing membrane with his ultrasound. I believe I've read the optimal time to be able to see the dividing membrane is between 10-12 weeks. I'll see if I can find that source.
Do you know if the babies had two yolk sacs or one? If two yolk sacs, that is a good indication -- although not 100% -- of two amniotic sacs.
3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5
3/27 ET: transferred 1 embryo, beta 9dp5dt=163, 12dp5dt=639
4/25 1st ultrasound at 7 weeks = identical twins with heartbeats?!!!

If he meant same amniotic sac, it's way too early to worry about that. If he meant gestational sac, that's fine. That's normal for mo/di moms.

I wouldn't worry until you go to the specialist. Their machines are very clear and it is still early. I am almost + at this point my twins are mo/mo, but they will check again next week. You can worry with me
All we can do it take it one day at a time!
I hope you find that membrane
I am still hoping I have one in there too!

We had early u/s at weeks 6, 10, and 12 and it took till that last one (with a specialist) to find out our twins are mo/di instead of mo/mo. My dr said from the beginning that the twins looked like they were in the same sac, but that they would keep an eye out for that tricky membrane and it was eventually seen quite clearly.
It's scary reading all the stuff about what could happen with twins (whether TTTS, mo/mo, PTL, etc) and one the best things you can do for yourself right now is to try to relax. If that means not reading all the web articles and books that list the scary stuff, definitely minimize your exposure to those so you can reduce the stress on your mind. Mo/mo's are quite rare and even if they are mo/mo, that doesn't automatically mean they won't be healthy.
