Carseat/booster recommendations

We have a 3yo son and a 8mo son and I'm getting ready to put the baby into a convertible carseat. I'd like to put him into DS1's seat and get DS1 a new seat that will transition to a booster.

Can anyone recommend their seat for me? Right now my frontrunner is the Diono Radian100

Thank you!

I might we mistaken, I don't believe the radian converts to a high back booster. We have a few nautili graco nautilius and a frontier. We have an almost 5 year old and a two year old. I just recently bought a designated booster and will move little man into the frontier. Dad has 2 nautili in his car and both kids are harnessed.

Eta: how big is your 3 yr old? How much longer do you intend to keep him harnessed? When does your convertible expire?

  • Yes, the Radian FF up to 65lbs then converts to a booster up to 100 or 120 lbs depending on the model. It's a great seat. I think it lasts 10 years instead of the usual 6-8 so it's a good buy if you have multiple kids.

  • From what I understand, the radian in booster mode is outgrown at about the same time as in the harness mode. So if you are still rearfacing or need a slim seat, the radian is a good choice. If not, the new britax frontier 90 looks awesome and the graco nautilus is well liked on this board.

This. The Radian has a 50lb minimum for booster mode, which means that by the time your child meets that minimum, they have most likely already outgrown the seat by height.

Go with a Nautilus, Harmony Defender, or a Frontier.

I agree. The Frontier would be my first choice. Second would be the Recaro ProSport; I love our Recaro HBBs, but my DD is tall and slim. I'm not a fan of our Nautilus. I don't think I'd buy it again. Right now it's an extra seat for grandma's car.
