My MIL?s grammar? LO isn?t speaking in sentences yet (obviously) but I don?t want him picking up these horrible habits.
I?m dealing with things like: ?He was happy today won?t he?? ? ?He won?t have nothing to do with it.? ? ?I won?t never go back there.?
Seriously? It?s driving me crazy. Would you say anything?
Re: When can I correct
Is she watching him for large amounts of time? I made my Mom (she watches him while I'm at work) stop the baby talk. The pedi actually mentioned to her too when we went for his 15 month appt. She stopped and his words have tripled. It was probably time for him to pick up more words but she's convinced it's cause she stopped speaking to him that way.
When it comes to my ILs I pick and choose my battles. If you think your MIL might get her panties in a bunch I'd really consider how much influence she has. I think you have more of an effect on his language than anyone right now. My son picks up on the inflections of words the way I do, it's funny.
