My son is in preschool and has a cold pretty much all the time. So do most of the other kids. He gets something more than a cold a few times a year. This year he's had a stomach virus, strep throat and fifth disease.
He is usually sick around 3-4 times per year, not counting the ear infections with no other symptoms that led to tubes in the first 14 months! Usually they are cods, although one time was hand-foot-mouth. He had a cold when Newbie was 2 mo old, so DS2 has already had one cold too. Ugh. He was in daycare and is now in a 2 day a week preschool, so being around other kids tends to lead to more viruses.
He's been sick 3 times this year, so I guess once every 2 months. He had an ear infection in late January, stomach bug on Easter, and strep over 4th of July.
Last year, he was sick every 2 weeks for about 5 solid months. It sucked.
A runny nose? Probably a once a month in the summer and more in the winter.
If you are talking about an actual fever or infection, not at all this spring and summer. However, DD1's first year and a half at daycare, she was sick 1-2 times a month and spent a lot of time home from daycare.

On average, I'm not sure, and I am not sure about little colds. I only remember when she was sick enough to stay home or take to the doctor. DD was sick for a while in February, missed several days of daycare and went to the doctor. She was home sick for a whole week in May, another doctor visit. And she was home sick two days last week.
DD#1 is almost 3 and has very rarely been sick. Probably 2 times a year honestly. DD#2 is 17 months and had one ear infection, one fever and a few stuffy noses in her lifetime. We have a nanny and they don't go to daycare. I am extremely thankful my kids are rarely sick *runs to knock on ALL THE WOOD*.
Also I haven't taken a day off work due to illness/being sick in years. I think we're just really damn lucky.
DD1, never.
DD2, once every few months.
DD3, any time DD2 gets sick.
DD1 and DD2 were both in daycare full time as babies and toddlers. They were sick pretty constantly their first two winters. After that it's only been occasional.
