Mobile: New dresser - getting rid of smell
Our dresser arrived for the nursery last week. I've let the drawers sit open trying to air them out. I put some charcoal sachets in them, also trying to get rid of the smell. It's not *that* bad and my sense of smell is probably heightened right now. But I hate the thought of putting LO's clothes into the drawers as I'm assuming the new clothes will pick up the scent of the drawers.
Any other ideas other than letting them sit open or putting charcoal sachets in them to soak up any existing smells quickly?
TIA!
Re: New dresser - getting rid of smell
A bowl of vinegar left in the closed drawers should help. I would leave it in there overnight. Good luck!
ETA: I knew a guy that worked at a car dealership. They would use this trick to take odors out of used cars. The vinegar should absorb the smell. If you are left with a slight smell of vinegar, that should dissipate within a couple hours. I use this trick in my microwave

Great, thank you ladies! I'm hoping for a quick fix so I can get that nursery organized. I think I'll wipe down first and then try the vinegar or vanilla approach.
This is what we do... My dad uses this method for appliances as well.

Vanilla actually absorbs and removes the smell, not mask it. It even works with paint smells.
I think it's the alcohol that actually does the job. The vanilla scent is just a bonus.
