My ten month twins are not sleeping well, for either naps or at night. They are not in cribs yet. They panic whenever we try. One is bottle fed formula. the other refuses bottles so im breastfeeding. Lately for naps I do get one down on a blanket on the floor. Then i have been nursing the other to sleep. I end up holding him. BUT, we run into trouble if the babe on the floor wakes. I know they need to be in cribs. I am starting to have all kinds of anxiety for when I go back to work. How will she get the one to eat from a bottle? How will she get them to nap? How can I wean to only feeding my guy mornings and evenings? Will I need to pump? I have so many issues and feel so overwhelmed! Any suggestions to get them in cribs? Start at night or for naps? Thanks for listening.
Re: Suggestions please
Whenever I need to change up something with sleep, I always start with naps. I think it's best if you stay consistent with your sleeping routine in regards to how you lay them down. Are you against sleep training? We did fuss it out (let them fuss as long as necessary, but go in to soothe immediately if crying) until they stopped crying when we would put them down, then we moved on to Ferber.
As for weaning, I would drop one nursing session at a time. Your body will adjust to whatever breastfeeding schedule you put it on. You could pump at work if you still want to provide breastmilk for your LOs, or you could drop all daytime sessions and just nurse morning and night.
I agree with the poster who said you are coddling then way too much. Why haven't they been in cribs from the beginning? Do you have other children? How are you napping a baby on the floor?
Start with the naps and insist they go into the crib. It will be a rough few days but they will get it. Consistency is key. Don't give in and let them nap elsewhere. Once they realize you are firm on this and won't budge, they will get it.
You need to get them on a better schedule NOW. It will be very rough for them to be with a sitter and then have their whole world turned upside down because they will be expected to nap, eat on schedule, etc.
When are you going back to work?
