Re: Activities for 13 month old
I have a 12 month old and also like to know what other people do with their little ones. I try to get him out and about for a bit each day. The library near us has a program called "Book Babies" where we can go & play; they sing songs & read a story. We also go to the family swim time at the Y. The park is also a nice option as long as it's nice out!
We go to the library for baby story time every Thursday. I usually take DD for a walk in her stroller if it's not too hot out in the afternoons, and just recently took her to the local zoo for the first time.
Really, she just goes everywhere I go during the day (I'm a SAHM) and she gets in plenty of people-watching and socialization that way. I name the fruits at the grocery store for her, or the colors of different things at the department store, take her out to lunch and let her try new foods... things like that.
The only part of our day that is really super structured time-wise (as in, one hour of doing this, two hours of that) is bedtime/wake up time. She is happy in bed at 7pm on the dot, and wakes up at 7:30am.

If we want to go out we go to
-library or Barnes and Noble for book time. They also have a ton of toys there that all the kids play with.
-the local mall has a little tot play area that is free and always busy. I take her there sometimes to see other kids and get some energy out. It is more age appropriate for her than the local playground as it has toddler sized slide, tunnels, etc.
-the local pet store...we call it the indoor zoo. She loves to see all the different animals. It doesn't cost me anything. And it is great when there is a heat wave and we can't play outside as long.
-During the school year, our local hospital has a free class for toddlers once a week. They sing songs and play with others their age. I work, but my husband's schedule allows him to take her or my mom will take her over.
Indoor playtime at home:
-We have a little chalkboard easel. She loves to draw on the chalkboard. And since it is only chalk, no real damage can be done to the walls when I run to the bathroom!
-Reading books
-Going through the little fabric tunnel we have
-Rolling the ball back and forth.
-Putting things in and out of a box...she seems to be able to do that for hours.
- "helping" mommy run the vacuum (she loves the vacuum cleaner)
-playing grocery shopping with some felt fruits and veggies we have and a toddler shopping cart I got at a yard sale
-playing fetch with the dog (with close adult supervision of course)
-having a "dance party" in the living room...she loves it when I dance with her!
