I got woken up last night with intense period like cramps. No fluid or bleeding and baby was moving so I just drank some water and tried to go back to sleep. I'm going to call the dr and let them know just in case, but is this normal? I'm 27 wks..
As long as they go away its probably okay. I get cramps and stomach tightening when I stand up. I was going to wait until my next appt this week to mention it.
This happened to me during the night on Friday. I was fine during the day and then woke up in the middle of the night with what felt like bad period cramps. It didn't go away Saturday morning despite lots of water and laying down. I ended up going to L&D to get checked out Saturday afternoon just in case (at their recommendation). They hooked me up to the monitor and baby was doing well and moving around and I thankfully was not having contractions or anything. My cervix was closed. Their assessment was that he may have moved positions and that it is likely normal pregnancy discomfort. I have not felt comfortable since then and sleeping is hard now. That being said, I would definitely call your doctor just to check for peace of mind that it's normal. Hopefully you feel better soon!
I think for me, gas pains during pregnancy often feel like period cramps. There have been a number of times where I've started to get concerned and then realize it's just gas. But as you're doing, it's better to call just in case.
i get these, but it's normally when i havent' had enough to drink (or could be stretching). it's still a bit disconcerting so calling isn't a bad idea. though, trying a ton of water first might help!
If they went away then I wouldn't worry too much. It's possible it was just some super uncomfortable Braxton Hicks or a muscle spasm or something. Call to be safe, but I'm sure everything is fine
I went to LD with this several weeks ago. I was in a lot of pain and they wanted to be sure it wasn't appendix or anything else. They said it was UTI and growing pains. I'm carrying twins and gained 8 lbs in 10 days, so yeah makes sense that would hurt. Maybe your LO is just having a growth spurt. Good luck.
Basically they said as long as they don't get worse and there is no bleeding/fluid leaking its fine/normal. I felt like I had been drinking plenty of water, but I upped my intake today and they haven't come back. Thanks for all the advice though! I'm a really heavy sleeper so when I was in enough pain to actually wake up I was a little worried and the dr doesn't open until 9.
