Babies: 3 - 6 Months

5 months NT sleep

Please share what your 5 month old's sleep schedule is usually like. What time they go to bed, how many MOTN wakings, what times.

DD goes to bed between 6 and 7. Wakes up anywhere from 123 to eat and them it varies. Sometimes she's up every 2 hours after that, sometimes she'll sleep another 4 hours. She's up for the day between 7 and 8.

Re: 5 months NT sleep

  • DD is 5 months and 1 week. We do bathtime at 6:30, bottle, pjs and in bed between 7:00 and 7:15. Shes sleeps till 7 or 7:30 with no MOTN feedings. Sometimes she wakes in her crib but usually just talks to herself for a few minutes and falls back to sleep. She's always been a really great sleeper. Naps, not so much...shes was a terrible napper but had just recently fallen into a 2 hr nap in the morning (usually 9-11) and a 2 hr nap in the afternoon (usually 3-5) with a 20 minute catnap around 1 or 1:30

  • DD was born 6 weeks early on Valentines day so will be 5 mths next weekend. She gets bathtime/ bottle/ rocking for a minute and goes to her crib either asleep or drowsy between 8-9pm. She STTN  with no feedings and wakes up between 6-7am.

Naps are variable but in general she sleeps a lot during day too....rarely staying awake more than 2 hrs or so.

  • Ugh. I need to do some sleep training. I was hoping others were in a similar situation. DD went down at 7, up at 1 and 5:15. Plus she pretty much doesn't nap very well ever. Yesterday she had maybe 2 30 minute naps. She doesn't act cranky but she has to be tired!

I Think this really depends on how much they can eat. my girls are eating approximately 24 oz a day. they really can't eat more than 5 oz in a sitting, so the most they go overnight is about 6 hours for the first stretch, then back to 4 hours for every stretch after. so our schedule is very similar to yours. i think once they can hold 6 oz we will be in better shape and get a 7 or 8 hour stretch routinely.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

  • DD goes down around 6pm, wakes around 10:30 and 3:30 for feedings, and is up for the day around 6:30am.

Naps were all over the place until this past weekend.  She seems to be getting into more of a nap routine now with two 2 hour naps and one 40 minute catnap.

    Hang in there!

Every baby is so different. DS was sttn from about 12 wks until last Saturday . Now all of a sudden he wakes up multiple times . He doesn't eat and usually goes back to sleep when we give him e paci but its still exhausting ! I guess we are going thru the 4 month wakeful a little late.
