Costco membership?

We used to be members a few years ago but that was prebaby...debating getting a membership again. We cancelled as I didn't purchase many bulk items like groceries with just DH and myself. Since then we've added a dog and newborn to the mix!

Any members here? What do you get their most often? Worth the annual membership?

Re: Costco membership?

  • We've been members for several years. We have the AMEX through them and use it religiously at restaurants and travel and love getting that big check once a year of cash back.

We mostly buy meat like steaks and chicken, produce, paper products and the occasional "ooh pretty!" We come across.

Since the babies we also buy formula because it is the cheapest we have found anywhere.

  • I would love a Costco membership, but we have Sam's Club membership just because that is what's closest to our house. As far as baby stuff, we get diapers, wipes, and diaper genie refills there. We also get a lot of our groceries there, with the exception of most meats and produce.

Edit to add: that's also the only place we get all paper products, cleaning supplies, and laundry detergent from.

  • We like their wipes; we don't get their diapers because I read they are the same as Huggies and we didn't have luck with Huggies. We buy meat, alcohol, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap and other miscellaneous stuff there. We've had luck with their electronics and also bought bikes there. I watched a documentary about Costco and it made me like it even more. As others have said, they are good to their employees. They also keep their profit margin really low.

  • Milk is super cheap there as well as blocks of cheese. We always shred our own cheese to save a lil money. My husband loves Monster energy drinks, as do i when not preg or BF, and its also super cheap there. Otherwise, produce, paper products, and alcohol
  • We do gas from Costco since it's the cheapest around, toilet paper, paper towels, bulk meats and snacky food that I portion out for quick grabs, milk since we are addicted, now with baby huggies and Kirkland wipes and my husbands razors. Was there last week and saw some cute shirts and baby outfits so picked those up... Always love Costco for holiday shopping... We go maybe twice a month plus one or two gas trips if needed. We love Costco.
  • We are fairly new to Costco. The milk is really cheap, bottled water, baked goods, paper goods, and have caved to items as I walk past.

Does anyone know if the Kirkland wipes are also Huggins brand?

    Thanks!

  • We have a samsclub membership. No Costco around. Like PPs we buy dog food, laundry detergent, meat for the smoker, diapers, olive oil and spices there. We also buy our kcups there for the keurig. We have a business membership and go during special hrs to Avoid the craziness.

Most of the Kirkland brand are made by big name brands however even is employees don't know for sure, it's all rumors as to who makes what.

    Darn and thanks!!

  • I love Costco! We go twice a month to get meat, bread, household items, snacks, etc. I'm brand loyal for sure!

I used to have one and loved it but we live too far away from one now.

If you get a membership and decide its not worth it you can cancel any time and get a full refund of your membership fee. You can't lose!

  • Thanks for all the replies! I'm thinking for things like cleaning, paper goods, wipes and dog food alone it's worth it. Hadn't thought of the gas but that's another bonus!
  • We have one. I love their wipes better than both pampers and huggies, and they're cheaper. We also get diapers there. All things like laundry/dishwasher detergent, vitamins, advil, kuerig coffee things, sleepers and clothes for DS and LO, books, bread.

I dont' find their meat that much cheaper, but they always have excellent fresh produce.

Totally worth it for us, but I also always go in for one thing and walk out having spent $100.

This, i cant imagine they are huggies

I don't care for Huggies wipes, but love Kirkland wipes. They're really soft. I don't know what I'd compare them to but they're definitely a good purchase!

love me some SAMs club. it's the only thing close here.

We make sure to buy our milk there also.. It's been on a really good price when it gets pricey everywhere else.
  • We have a B.J.s membership and definitely get our money's worth.  We buy cat food and kitty litter, bottled water, t.p. and paper towels.  Milk and half-n-half are cheaper there and we get chicken stock, canned green beans and a few other things.  Oh and giant bottles of BJs brand Advil and other medicines.

ETA:  Also, baby wipes and cleaning products.
