Water in bottle vs sippy cup

I've posted before how LO doesn't drink enough water in sippy cup- DD is 15 months old- I've gotten creative w her taking sips out of mommy's glass, trying a fun straw, or taking the cap off her own sippy cup- she drinks very minimal-

yesterday we were at the pool- SOOOO hot out- she saw her empty bottle in the cooler- so I filled it w water- she drank like 4 ounces of water-

then again today I offered water in the bottle she drank like 3 ounces

so in ur opinion should I keep offering water in bottle so she drinks it? Or is that going back a step- should I just keep offering it in a sippy cup

Re: Water in bottle vs sippy cup

  • My 13 month old loves drinking water from a camelbak water bottle. Maybe try that? Those have the soft tip that is easy to suck out of.
Sweet little girl AMM born 6/13/12 via scheduled csection. Surprised with a pregnancy in September, 2012 which ended in MC in October at 7.5 weeks. Surprised again(!) with another pregnancy in November. Baby due 7/19/13. Depo clearly does not work for us!

  • She has the nuby sippy cups which are a soft top and a straw cup that I use for smoothies- but I can put water in that too
  • DD drinks from a straw in a water bottle- also straw sippy cups.

If she drinks the water from the water bottle, let her!

  • I have these things that screw onto regular water bottles and ds loves them. Hr drinks fine out if regular sippys but he just thinks ge is so.cool when.he uses it you can see it in his.eyes!

    I've seen two versions.

These or these.  Haven't used myself.  i just give her the bottle, but she drinks well out of a straw cup too.

  • I second the camel back.  We got DS a kid size one and pulled the straw out because he prefers to tip it back.  He will drink out a full size one though if we don't have his along.  OTherwise he can drink it out of a regular cup.  I wouldn't go back to the bottle, since your LO is at the age where they should be weaned off.  I've seen kids close to 18 months to 2 years who still need a bottle because their parents never weaned them off it.
