I know that you have a c-section after 39 weeks but WHEN do they schedule it? I go in for my growth scan on the 16th (36 weeks)...will they schedule it then. Because we have family coming in from 4 different states.
Depends on your office but mine did it between 28-32 weeks. There are several OB's in the practice and they only schedule out their "on call" days a few months out. So if I wanted my OB I had to wait until then.
Honestly if you will be 36 weeks on the 16th I'm surprised they haven't scheduled it already. I kept asking at my appts because the earlier I scheduled the better chance I had a choice of times.
Yeah, I have been asking at EVERY doctors appointment since like 20 weeks just out of curiosity and they just keep saying, "when you are farther along." Well my next appointment on the 16th I am going to push for it to be scheduled because this just isn't right. I have had the WORST experiences this pregnancy...
It depends quite a bit as to why you are having a CS. If baby is happy and healthy then it is usually okay to let the LO bake a little longer. If mother and/or baby are having health issues than it'll get scheduled sooner.
With LO1 we had an U/S at 36 weeks for presentation and AF levels; and since both were less than ideal the OB and I booked a date at our next appointment. With LO2 I had the option of booking a RCS right off the bat (in the 1st tri), but opted for a VBAC instead.
"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
Mine was scheduled at 36 weeks for 39w, 1 day. I know you feel like this is one thing you can control with a c section, but even if they schedule it, there's still a chance you could labor early or the OR will be full with emergencies. So, while it's nice to plan with company coming, it doesn't always work out that way.
My c-section was just scheduled last week (at 35.5wks) for 7/19 and will be performed because my twins are transverse and I have other complications with this pregnancy that I didn't have with my first child.
As far as when they schedule, it really depends on your doctor and cyour reason for having a c-section. If you are having an elective c-section (personal preference/no medical reason) they might not schedule it till later in the pregnancy and even then, it will be subject to no one else needing an emergency c-section and hospital bed availability. They may also wait to schedule if your growth scan indicates that your baby needs more time to "bake".

Mine normally does it around 30-32 weeks, but I'm due at the beginning of September, so they still don't have the full schedule yet. So I have a tentative date, but they might try and move it up few days. Also they don't schedule for holidays or weekends, so I have less days to pick from due to labor day.
My Dr scheduled it at 26 weeks, but I think that's on the early side. It kind of sucked through as it meant I got the first scheduled one of the day which meant arriving at 4am.

Mine schedules at 36 weeks because the hospital only schedules 1 month in advance. I suspect different hospitals do it differently, but your dr. office should have been able to tell you exactly when you would be able to schedule.
My practice would put it on the calendar at 28 weeks, although I waited longer so I could meet all the OBs who might perform it and decide which one I wanted (although DS came early so that didn't matter in the end). I think it depends on the practice and hospital.

With twins, my OB scheduled it at my 34 week appt for a csection at 38 weeks. However, I didn't make it to 38 weeks. He didn't want to schedule more than a month out.
My hospital won't schedule until 36 weeks. I had first baby before I got a date and second arrived a week before my scheduled date anyway so it didn't much matter.

I went in for my 37 week appointment today and they said they are going to schedule me just in case (we're still hoping he turns head down!)
I think this will vary greatly by practice and hospital. GL!
