CD Moms

It has occurred to me that Howell is going to outgrow his alvas well before he is potty trained. He's already 25 maybe 26 pounds. I would love recs for diapers that work well for toddlers and will accommodate a big baby to two. I liked our thirsties/prefold combo when he was a newborn so I'd be up for prefolds again but can't figure out if they really will be big enough and the XL wraps seem to be hard to find. Any ideas?

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

Re: CD Moms

  • We have the bamboo Lollipop brand nappies and they are great. They are suppose to work up to age 2. I am not sure if you can get them in the states but you can check. The company is Lollipop.

  • We have Alvas and BGs, and I can already tell he'll outgrow the BGs way sooner than Alvas [Alvas still fit fairly well, though]. BGs seem to run small.

I think I may try a few fitteds, since those last longer than prefolds [he outgrew his prefolds FAST].

  • You can always buy the extenders for the ones you have. I don't think alva makes them, but the flip ones would probably work.

  • DS is about the same size with big hips and thighs.  I liked thirsties covers as a newborn, but I love his blueberry coveralls over a trifolded prefold right now.

ETA:  he still has plenty of room to grow in his blueberries.

  • We use GoGreen Champs [pocket diapers] and they are suppose to fit 6lbs to 45lbs. My DS is on the smaller size 18lbs 8oz and 26.5ins at 10 months but he is only on the second row of snaps up and down and still on the second smallest snap around the waist.

We use Kissaluvs fitteds with Thirsties or Kissas covers. I love them. We have sizes 1 (15-25lbs) and  2 (20-40lbs), but the new sizing is M/L and it's 15-40lbs. The coverage is very generous. Some of mine are seconds through their website and I those are about $10ea. We're using them on our second baby now and they wash/wear/last incredibly well. They are made from us-grown cotton, so truly are a made in usa product.
  • Charlotte is 22 lbs.  We are still using the medium size Bummis prefolds with size 2 Thirsties covers.  We have the rise snapped down one time; I think they will fit for a long time.

I feel like our BG diapers will fit for a long time, as well as our GroVia AI2s and our Kissaluvs Marvel.

On the other hand, Tots Bots Easy Fits seem small to me, and so does our GroVia AIO.
