Hummus

Anyone have any good hummus recipes? I want to try making some!

Re: Hummus

  • I haven't made this one yet, but I have used a lot of her recipes and they turned out great. She has a couple other flavors on her site as well. Good luck!

  • We love making hummus, because we are both not huge garlic fans, and all the store bought stuff is so garlicky.  We just throw a couple of cans of chickpeas in the food processor (garbanzo beans?  Cece beans? Whatever you say), add olive oil.  The get creative.  Sometimes we do....roasted red peppers and feta cheese...sundried tomatoes and Romano cheese....lemon juice....beets....avocado....and add salt and pepper to taste.  Hummus is really so basic, most people use garlic too of course.  Just slowly add more olive oil until you get the consistency you want, but when you use something wet like beets or roasted peppers you will need less.

wss, except you need tahini, and I like to add lemon juice as well.

And cumin. It's chickpeas, tahini (a little), olive oil, garlic, cumin, lemon and thinned with a little water.  Sometimes I make green pea hummus where you swap the chickpeas for green peas and add a little mint. Process until smooth and taste and add what you like. I never measure.
