dresser!!

We battled the craziness that is Ikea and came home with 2 dressers!! We got the Hemnes style. A tall skinny one and a short 3 drawer! Of course not too many color options so we are going to attempt to sand them and paint!! I'm thinking either a smoky blue, or a darker shade of turqoise!! Hopefully they turn out otherwise we are out 300 bucks!

Did you try Craigslist at all? They seem to be on there quite a bit (in my area) and at least if the painting doesn't turn out you're not out the full price. There's also some tutorials on pinterest for painting Hemnes.

I look at Craigslist pretty frequently and never see anything that I like. I'll have to look for those tutorials, we are definitely newbies when it comes to painting furniture. I am pretty crafty though, I have some confidence in myself that I can get it done!!

  • i'm totally not trying to rain on your parade, but i've re-done and re-painted my fair share of furniture. you may be better off painting over them if they are their lighter color ones. we have the hemnes style with the 8 drawers, and i'm not sure it will sand down without ruining it. i just don't want you to be totally bummed. it may work out perfectly...good luck with whatever you do!

  • or did you get the plain looking wood ones? if so, i may have spoke to soon!
  • Try Annie Sloan chalk paint. It saves me a ton of time because I hate sanding and priming!

We got the gray brown mostly wood ones. Definitely not the shiny white, that would have been impossible!
