should I?

Hey ladies... Need your advice so I went to L&D yesterday and was monitored for 6 hours.  Long story short I have started dilating (only 1cm) and it didn't change at all while I was there but I did have contiuous contractions (which I honestly don't feel---just a LOT of pressure in my back.   Anyway... I know that walking and being up a lot will probably make things worse...however I promised my kids we'd go to this church 'block party thing' at the lake today....so we're about to leave.  But I'll be back on as soon as I get home.  Won't have service to mobile bump while I'm gone.

My question is should I go ahead and move DS2's car seat and put the base to LO's in the car this week and pack our hospital bags??  I also plan on fixing little activity bags for the other two for the hospital that include their 'big brother' and 'middle brother' shirts.  Should I hold off a few more weeks or go ahead and get that done?  I"m just not positive LO is going to hold off much more than a couple weeks no matter how much I beg with him.

Thanks ya'll!!!   Have a BLESSED SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This. And I would pack your bags and get stuff together if you feel that it is necessary. No harm in being prepared early.

All of this.  Take it easy!  Better to be prepared early than rushing later and possibly forgetting something.

    Agreed.

To answer your question, I'd make the preparations now. Especially since you don't seem to plan on following your doctor's recommendation to rest and avoid PTL.

  • BTDT moms can dilate sooner and have more contractions prior to actually going into labor. Did your doctor say you will prob have baby early? If so, my arse would be on bedrest, doctors orders or not (and I would hope they would be).  You sound way too okay about your LO coming so early.  It doesn't hurt to pack your bag, but you may as well not worry about the carseat because your baby will be in the NICU if he's born in the next couple weeks and won't need his carseat.

  • I don't really understand why you're not taking it easy and following what your doctor said. Especially after what you went through yesterday. Not trying to be preachy but you're just going to end up hurting yourself more. I wouldn't be doing anything that would maybe cause PTL.

this. If you were 39 weeks it would be different, but this is still too early for baby's arrival. You could have had someone else take the kids to the party. Good luck

  • I agree with the others!  You need to stay at home and rest.   It's too early for delivery.  Promise or no promise, the baby's and your health come first.  Yes, go on and prepare.  But sit down. That's scary.  I hope all goes well for you!

Your last sentence really bothers me. It doesn't sound like you're begging LO to stay in there at all! It sounds like you don't care either way!

Don't get me wrong I get it is excessively difficult to stay off your feet especially with another child and while there are so many fun summer activities going on. I plan to pack my bag next week, as I'm worried about PTL, but I do not, by any means, want to deliver this baby early. A NICU stay doesn't sound like very much fun to me..
