DS1 (turning 7) is having his first "friend" party this year. He is having a bounce house party at a local party place. He wants a dinosaur party. Most of his guests are his age but three of them are in 3rd/ 4th grade and one of the kids is 4. There will be just any many girls as boys so I don't want to pick a favor that the girls wont like. I'd prefer to get them one nicer item than a bunch of junk but I'd like to keep things under $5 each. Edible things are ok but have to be allergy safe which can be hard. Any ideas?

Re: non junky party favors?
Coloring book + washable markers or color pencils
Book
Not crappy water gun (since summer is getting close)
Water bottle (they have some dinosaur themed ones at party city for 2$)
This won't work for the 4 year old, but I immediately thought of something like a dinosaur dig kit.

I got some fun plastic cups from Walmart in the party section that had different character--Disney-Mickey, Minnie, Cars and Hello Kitty, etc, and I let the kids choose the cup they wanted. For me, a plastic cup is just a good thing as a mom, and it is fun for the kid.
I wish I would have gotten like some bubbles to add from Gymboree or someplace else. But bubbles would have been fun.
How much do you usually spend per kid?
I'd get a $5 gift card per kid to an ice cream place or the like.
