Painful breasts?

I've noticed this the most during/after sex, but it has happened other times as well. This time was definitely the worst, though.

My nipple and breast gets incredibly painful. Not tender or uncomfortable. It's like a burning pain through my breast. My nipple turned purple. It only happened on the right one, the left was fine. I have a pretty high tolerance of pain, and I was nearly in tears. It's starting to subside, thankfully.

Is this something normal that I should just learn to put up with? Is there any secret relief for this? Or is it something to be concerned about, that I should bring up with my doctor?

Re: Painful breasts?

  • That doesn't sound normal to me and I would definitely bring it up to my doctor, or call them if it keeps up. Maybe try some Tylenol and a warm compress.

  • As strange as it sounds, that almost sounds like let down to me. It can be like a lightning bolt of pain. If your DH is stimulating your nipples, that really could be it.

  • Ok. I'll bring it up at my next appointment unless it happens more frequently, then I'll call. It's still a bit tender but not purple anymore.

No physical stimulation when it happens. I don't let him touch them often because of it. It lasted several minutes.
It's happened both with bra and shirt on, and bare, so it's not friction or constriction, but it's never hurt this bad before so I assumed it was par for the course.

D: no bueno. I'd ask my doc if it were me. I hope you get some answers!
  • This happens to me all the time. Often seems to be triggered by being cold. Used to happen sometimes when I was PMSing too.

I did talk to my doc abt it and he said it was totally normal and not need for concern.

Heat helps me. When its really bad I put a heating pad on it or them and that helps.

Good luck! If you do discuss with your doc and are told something different let me know!:
