Breeders?

I have a friend on FB who posts coupons and sign up for freebie things. Whenever she shares a baby one, she addresses it to the "breeders". I told her today I'm a little offended by the terminology. I know that biologically I guess that's what I've done, but I think that term kinda makes us sounds like animals. What do you think of the term?

Re: Breeders?

  • Eh... I am pretty laid back so it doesn't really bother me. And I have told people I feel like a milk cow while Bfing lol.

I think it would bother me if she was using it in a derogatory context, but to me it seems pretty harmless and in jest.

  • I can see why people might be upset by it, but I wouldn't read too much into it personally.

  • I am not offended but it is annoying and reminds me of the guys that say "female" instead of woman. It seems a little disrespectful.

Meh. She's kidding and I think you're taking it too seriously.

The word has a negative connotation, whether or not she's kidding.

  • I referred to DD as a parasite in womb in jest, so no, this does not bother me.

  • I wouldn't worry about it. The only time I hear it used by people who are not genuinely joking is when it is used by people who could not or did not have children. In those cases i take the "insult" with empathy since often the hostility comes from a place of regret.
