DS2 went to his first day of "preschool" today! It was only 2 hours, but it's pretty much the first time he's gone somewhere without someone he knows very well. They said he did great! I'm so freaking happy.
My son who has SPD and speech delay. He sang an entire lullaby to me, almost word for word. What made it even more special is that it is a special lullaby that my family has been singing for generations, made up by a family member like 100 plus years ago. So he isn't hearing it anywhere else but from us and he picked it up and sang it to me, I cried. It was one of the most precious things I ever heard.
DD has been noticing DH and I more without us having to work to get her attention. I picked her up at daycare Monday and she heard me talking to her teacher and she got so excited and ran over to me all on her own! Made me tear up
Late, late, late, but we have had a very rough morning and I want to think about the good things for a bit! Let's see... Yesterday, DS came to ask me, "Do you want your yellow truck with the windshield?" I couldn't figure it out at first, but he was missing the windshield piece. He's finally starting to string thoughts together spontaneously. We're still working on saying "I want," and using words to socialize rather than just to request, but it seems like he has finally realized that echolalia is only so functional.
Re: Independence Day Wednesday!
DS would say "I like black doughnuts!" to everybody. I loved it! Well, he no longer says it anymore he says "I like chocolate doughnuts!"
I liked black doughnuts better. It would put a smile on my face every time DS said it.
