Regression in older sib- how early in pg?

DS is over 2.5. We've been reading some books from the library every now and then about his baby brother-to-be. Recently he's started crawling on occasion. Isn't this a bit early? What else can I expect? He'll start mom's day out again in mid-Aug. Hopefully, he'll have time to readjust to that again before LO #2.

Also, how late would you think I could PT, if he shows interest? He'll be 3 in late Oct., and DS2's due in mid-Nov. I kept reading about the average age being between 2.5 and 3. I don't want to push it, I'd rather it be his accomplishment to take pride in. But, if he should suddenly stop hiding to poop and telling me to "Go away", well then I'd like to be ready! :-)

 Thanks.

Re: Regression in older sib- how early in pg?

  • Some kids like to play baby sometime. It could be just because you are talking about babies all the time. The only thing my LO regressed in was sleep, adjusting to a screaming newborn all the time. We waited to PT until DD2 was born, and we actually did it 2 weeks after she was born because DD1 didn't "want to wear diapers like her baby sister". So, she really went the opposite route. She was fully PT at 28 months.

Sometimes still (6 months in), DD1 will steal a paci or whine like a baby, but it's pretty rare.  She is more focused on Barbies and swimming than trying to be like her LS, but I also think we manage pretty well at giving them both attention, so she isn't using negative or baby-like actions to get attention.
