  • I took him along. He slept the whole time.

  • I've always taken my LO. They usually sleep. The doctors like to see the babes, and if they are acting up, the nurses don't mind helping out.

  • I have no choice but to bring her but I wouldn't want to leave her just yet anyway. I hope she doesn't decide to have her fussy time there.
  • Left him with DH.

  • I left DS with my mom. He breaks into inconsolable crying fits, and I didn't want to risk it. As a FTM, I have yet to master how to stay calm and collected in situations like this. He needs his grandma time anyway. :)

I brought my LO because I wanted to take a picture of my midwife holding him. I wanted to do it at the hospital but my lil guy was in the NICU and we didnt get a chance. She enjoyed seeing him, but if it wasnt for wanting that picture, I would have left him with my mom. He got fussy in the office.

I left LO with my mom. The nurses were bummed that they didn't get to see him, but it was far easier for all involved.

I'll be leaving LO with grandma as well.
I definitely relate to your concern. I'm so dreading the first time LO is fussy in public and I'm not able to soothe her.

  • I left him with my MIL. I was going to take him but she offered and it was nice to get out alone. And easier too. She had already watched him twice. Once when I went to see my students graduate and once when DH and I went to a graduation party for a couple hours. I go to a large practice and the doc I saw wasn't a part of my delivery and wouldn't "know" LO anyways.

I want to take my LO just to get a picture with my OB, who thankfully was the doctor on call the day I delivered. But I wasn't sure if that would be weird. Now I feel better about it! Good post, OP!

  • I took mine and she had a meltdown right after my doctor walked in the room.  My doctor was very nice about it and said I could breastfeed her.  I ended up feeding her the whole appointment, even during the internal exam ...and during the internal exam, while she was feeding, she did an enormous explosive poop.  It was at that point that I realized any shred of dignity I had left was gone :-)  The whole thing has made for a good story.
  • I'm taking DD with me.

  • Thanks for all the feedback.  I was originally planning on bringing LO with me, but there was a thread earlier mentioning how inappropriate it was for people to bring kids to doctor appointments.  I wasn't sure if the PP appointment was an exception.

  • DH came and we brought LO. Dr likes to see the babies... I should note that we live 2 hrs away so it was a 5 hr trip total round trip. That's why DH came. I ebf so LO needed to be with me.

  • I took him because I EBF and don't have anything pumped for him. He eats every 2 hours for a half an hour. I didn't know if I could get there and back in 1.5 hours. I had to feed him there so it was for the best. My 3 year old stayed with daddy thank goodness. She could not have handled that.

My OB actually told me she wanted me to bring M to our 2 and 6 week check ups so they could all see her. Makes my life easier for sure!

  • With #1, she came to my PP appointment and just laid on my chest while I was getting checked. #2 stayed home with Glammy, and it was heavenly! :)

I brought him along and he flipped out. I wish I would have asked someone to watch him!

  • I took DS with me.  Of course he had a huge poop blowout right in the middle of the appointment, when I was getting fitted for a diaphragm, so my midwife changed him while I was in the bathroom trying out the different sizes of diaphragm.  It wasn't really a big deal!
