aquaphor expires?

My DD has a rash under her neck-from sweating and the heat-poor thing.

I just went to put some aquaphor on it and the tube has an ex date on it, I didn't think it would expire.  It should still work, the date on one tube was 6/13 so I plan to still use that one.  But the big tub I have says 8/11 which is annoying because I know about that after DS was born in Aug '11!

Is there anything else you have used for rashes/irritation that you recommend?? TIA for any thoughts :)

Re: aquaphor expires?

  • Put the cornstarch powder on it. DS had a terrible rash from spit up and the heat and pedi rec that and it cleared it right up. It is actually part of our nightly routine now since he's a happy spitter and the rash kept coming back.

  • Most companies have to follow the FDA guidelines by putting an expiration date on products. It's typically only a "recommended shelf life"

    I would use it.

Also, for persistent rashes, I use Lotrimin AF. Works like a flucking charm.

  • Im sure its fine. Aquaphor is just glorified vaseline anyway and i keep that stuff for years! DS has a rash under his neck that is just a flat, red oval shape. Cleaning each day and aquaphor hasn't knocked it out. When we went to the pedi for something else, she said it was a yeast infection and gave us this prescription cream to take care of it. GL!
