DH/nursery surprise

So my DH and his friend want to paint the nursery for me while I'm out of town next month. It's a sweet idea, but am I wrong for freaking out? This is my first baby (his 2nd) and I have a lot of nursery ideas for either gender. I kind of wanted to pick everything out, and I'm a perfectionist so this is really bugging me. I kind of told him how I felt and I hurt his feelings. I mean, if it was Franc from Father of the Bride, I wouldn't worry so much. But would anyone else give up control to their husbands for the nursery?

Why do you have to give up complete control? Give them the paint color and let them go to town Wink

Could they prime for you? That way he gets to do somthing and you can still get to do a gender specific theme.

I would caution you that you need to work with your DH on the nursery, this is his first baby with YOU, and he should be a part of things (which is what it sounds like he wants).

It's better for you & baby if you're not around the paint fumes. This sounds like a perfect solution. Pick a color. Give him the paint chip. Let him go to town. When you get back the paint will be up and you can start doing all the other decorations. It doesn't sound like he wants to take over the whole thing, just paint the walls. And to second pp- this is his baby too, he should be included in helping plan if that's what he wants.

I agree with pps. Painting isn't the same as decorating. Give them paint chips and directions and enjoy the help.

While I sense he is very excited it sounds like you'll still be in 1st tri when he wants to paint. A little early in my experience to start decorating. I would definitely wait and then go ahead pick out the paint colors and let him do all the hard labor.

Ditto. But also agree with others that is is very early on. Might want to consider a neutral color.

Our deal was I got to decorate for a girl, him if it was a boy. It's a BOY! He did a fabulous job and chose a color scheme he knew I would like. He also painted an amazing mural.

I would let him do it.

I don't even know what to say because my DH would never in a million years have any opinion on decorating. He would paint for me if I gave him a color, but he would never want to pick it himself. He just has no interest in decorating or anything like that. Lol
