Ok so are all stool softeners the same? Are there some you can't take while breast feeding? I'm trying to get my postpartum supplies together before my csection Tues. Just wondering which brand to buy?
Also, the hospital will most likely give you them while you're there. I didn't realize this and took colace and the one the hospital gave me. Not a huge deal, just a heads up.
You can check on the ingredients list. I got the CVS brand of colace gel caps and a bottle of the CVS brand of Miralax powder.
Ducosate Sodium is the main ingredient in the stool softener, so as long as you have that, you should be good.
Warning: Some of the products also include an laxative (which you may or may not want).
All of this. I've had horrible issues throughout the pregnancy, so early on I started taking Colace. The last couple of weeks I've had to step it up by adding Miralax at the suggestion of my doctor. The Miralax dissolves in water and thankfully you can't taste it. And it's really been a lifesaver.
