Crohn's/IBD Moms

I remember two or three of us have Crohn's or UC. How is everyone doing? I'd been having no symptoms until this week 19, when I noticed the beginnings of a flare. I've started back on Canasa on top of my Asacol rx. I've been amazed how good I've felt overall, though. Hope you ladies are doing well and avoiding complications these days.

Re: Crohn's/IBD Moms

  • I don't have Crohns but they do think I have IBS and the first trimester was miserable. I have a hernia up in the right side of my intestines and there is nothing they can do about it during pregnancy. My terrible pain and cramping from this has seem to have gotten better in the second trimester, but I have had two fissures and ended up needing two enemas.

Glad to hear you are seeming to do better! Hope it stays smoothe sailing!

  • I've had Crohn's since I was 12 years old. Pregnancy is when I feel my best. But I still have to be aware of certain foods. I've been taking a probiotic this

  • Oops. Fat finger post. I've been taking a probiotic this pregnancy, and I think it helps, too. What I dread is that I'm due for a colonoscopy as soon as I finish breast feeding.

I was on asacol for years, and it helped some. Immuran was my go to, though. But it caused me to end up with nine skin cancers later in life. Joy! I'm just grateful to be able to carry healthy babies. No matter what I have to endure, being a mom is so worth it.

I have UC and its come back with a vengence with pregnancy! Headed back to the dr Wed... glad everyone else is good, that means theres hope for relief!
  • I don't have crohns or IBD but I have a dysfunctional gallbladder so my diet is limited. So far I've been able to keep it from flaring during the pregnancy. Hope it continues. I have nothing but respect for you ladies. Hope your bodies treat you well til your LOs are here.

  • I have severe Crohn's and was not in remission when I got pregnant. Pregnancy was fine until week 12 and then it has been hard since. However, sad part is, after having flares its not bad. But I can sleep on my back only my sides cause intestinal discomfort. When the baby moves I don't feel on the outside but man my intestines do. So in a way its nice to know he is moving. So far baby boy is healthy and on track. So its been tough but still easier than a flare just cant take the pain meds so I have to fight through it. Worth it I think. Hope things get better for you guys and stay better.
  • I have UC it's been out of control since my hormones started raging. Asacol doesn't do much but scheduling another appt with my GI today! Actually did a walk fundraiser for CCFA last week, too!

I don't have Crohns or IBD, but DH has Crohns, so I just wanted to lend my support and let you all know how amazing you are for handling your pregnancies and your Crohns/IBD/other gastro issues!

    THANK YOU!!!
