Push Presents...for the Dad!

Ladies...does anyone have a cute/thoughtful/reasonably-priced gift idea for my first-time-dad-to-be?

He has been so supportive during my pregnancy, even during my moments of irrational behavior, and I'd like to get him something special.

He really likes specialty and craft beers.  I looked into the Beer of the Month Club...a little pricey.

What are you doing for your significant other?

    Yes  Haha.

I will say that even though I'm doing the "heavy lifting" DH certainly deserves some sort of trophy for putting up with my whiney pregnant butt.

  • Umm... I make sure he has some beer in the fridge. Thats about it.

He brings ice cream after I deliver.

Thats about as close as we get to push presents.

  • don't see the point in a "push present" for dad since he isn't the one squirting out a baby.

I just let DH know all the time he's appreciated and that's enough for him.

if he likes craft beer though you could look into a local brewery.  I took DH to one for his 30th birthday and he LOVED it.  it was only $15 for the tour and you got one full beer and 3 others to try.

  • I'm not planning in getting dh anything. His bday is at the end if July and our anniversary is in aug that's enough gifts for me to come up with.

With dd he bought me a pandora bracelet with some charms but I don't think he would have gotten me anything if I hadn't gone through such a tough time with pre e and her being in the nicu.

  • Monogrammed pint glasses?
  • I got DH a t shirt that says "Daddy Since 2013" for him to put on once the baby is born. It should be a fun surprise for him.
  • How about tall beer glasses. We got a nice set on amazon. You can then bring them to an engraving place, like Things Remembered, and write cute sayings... Daddy's bottle, 1 Dad...

Just this. I was really really hoping to make it all the way through the end of August without ever hearing the "PP" term. Oh well, to all their own!

  • I'm not sure if ill be getting dh anything, and I don't expect a push present either. For a moment like this I think telling him how amazingly supportive he has been and what a wonderful father I know he will be would mean more than a present of some sort.

  • I bought DH a copper keyring off Etsy with SD and DS`s names on it when DS was born and I ordered another one with the new baby`s name added for this time. DH loved it last time, it was a little surprise for him on delivery day.

  • Thank you to those who posted ideas.  I appreciate the input!
  • When DD was born I'd gotten him a set with a tie for him and infant headband (soft elastic one) for matching fabric. To be honest, he didn't really, wear it, but he doesn't wear ties a whole lot. It was cute though. Found it on etsy. Not yet sure what I might do this time.

  • I actually really like this idea, I know I've said it before but while my H may not be the one pushing out a babe, he works really hard during my labors with massages and whatnot. Maybe I'll treat him to a massage :)

  • Sorry to disappoint you?  Didn't realize "PP" was off limits.
  • I have been his DD for almost 10 months. That's awesome in my opinion. I do like the idea of touring the brewery though. It would be a nice date before baby comes , while he still has HIS DD. lol

  • I went on Esty and got him a tshirt and 2 coffee mugs for under 50 I think it's cute :

lol I told DH enjoy it now because when she's born it's his turn for 10 months.  he doesn't have a problem with it and I was mostly joking.  we can take turns.  I even enjoyed the brewery even though I didn't drink (I did have a taste of one which I'll be going back for later)  but it was fun seeing how they make it and the science behind it(yea I'm a nerd)  plus they had good food and gave me a discount because I didn't drink.

  • I definitely haven't thought about this and kind of agree that I'm giving him a baby. However... I really like the idea of a key ring with LOs name. Seems subtle enough that it'd be something he uses and just enough to show thanks.

  • I'm getting him this book. It's not meant as a PP though, just a good book to have around for a first time dad

I was just looking for some ideas to do something nice for my husband.  I'm neither rich nor crazy.

    Sheesh.

  • Well, when I first heard of push presents I thought the whole idea was dumb.  However, I see where you are coming from.  I love the idea of getting daddy something just as a thank you for putting up with an emotional pregnant lady for 9 months!  I'm reallly thinking I might just do that.  Although I have no clue what to get him yet.  Thanks for the idea!

I was really surprised by how much my husband loves his because DH is not a keychain guy but it is small and it`s bronze so it`s durable and nice quality.

  • After hearing about Kanye West's "Push Present" for Kim K, I decided it's too much of a celebrity inspired thing for me to participate in. DH will be absolutely thrilled when LO arrives, and that'll be enough for the both of us.

  • We never did the PP thing when DS was born. But I certainly wouldnt turn my nose at any gift anyone gave me for any reason. I doubt DH would either.

I actually like the comfy lounge pants idea. He needs some new ones anyway and I do pretty much all of his clothes shopping so I may get him a pair. He works really hard for me and DS and this new baby. He's always so hands on and is amazing with helping me during those awful months in the beginning!

I never minded the whole PP debate. Some people get awfully upset about it. And then there's people like me...that just don't give a sh!t about what other people do.

    Shrug.

I actually never thought of this. He has been pretty supportive throughout all of this.. I don't think I would do anything for him as far as a PP goes ... he's not pushing and this is my first, but not his.. I'll be keeping that in mind also, lol.

And yes.. the term "push-present" sounds very yucky to me also.

Getting the father of your child a gift for being supportive during one of the biggest changes in both of your lives is the "dumbest thing you've ever heard"?

Why even comment if you are going to be so rude? Show some manners and courtesy. Two traits I will certainly be installing in my little one.

Well I mean the term push present refers to a present for the person pushing the baby out, no? I understand wanting to get him a gift for being supportive but I suppose referring to his as a push present sounds a bit silly.
