Those BFing and on WW

Mobile: Those BFing and on WW

I've been on WW forever it feels like (took a break during the pregnancy) and it has always worked wonders for me. Lately though, I've been only losing .4 lbs per week and that was after reducing my points to Supplementing and Nursing then manually by 3 more points. Have any of you been struggling with this as well? I'm debating just making it on there to where I'm not nursing and testing to see how it effects my supply. I've had supply issues from day one though so I'm worried. Anyone else done this?

Re: Those BFing and on WW

  • I started WW when DD was 3 months old. So in 12 weeks I've lost 15 pounds. I bf but also supplement. My supply isn't great. I allow myself 7 extra points like they say to do if you are supplementing. I'm happy with my weight loss so far but think it should be greater. Some weeks where I feel like I had a loss, I stay the same. Then, I lose big the next week when I don't feel like I've lost. I've done WW before and never felt like this. I'm attributing it to breast feeding. I was going to reduce my extra points too, like you to see if it would help. I'm nervous to because I don't want to jeopardize my supply. My WW leader is of no help. I'm the only new mom in my group who breast feeds. I can commiserate with you. Good luck!

  • I just reached my goal weight on WW while fully BFing. I averaged about 1.5lbs per week, though some weeks it was 2lbs or more and others a 0.5lb gain. I quickly realized that in order to lose at a decent rate, I needed to eat ALL my daily, weekly and some activity points. This was completely counterintuitive for me, but it was the advice of others after struggling to see a loss and it really helped a lot. So, while it may seem odd, you might need to up your points.

Sorry that you're going through the same thing, but it does sound nice to have someone in the same boat. I lost 50 lbs on WW prior to my pregnancy and it came off at a beautiful 1-2lbs per week. I think I will cut down my points to the non-nursing, I'll let you know how it turns out. I have done weeks where I have used all my points + had activity points left over. I'm thinking some women do have a harder time while breastfeeding, My body has been out of wack with other health issues since getting pregnant (infections, dandruff, etc).I was one of those lucky ones who got weighed right before going to the hospital, had a 7 lbs 12 oz baby, weighed myself right after to find I gained 5 lbs (in which I worked my butt off to lose in the past month). Good luck to you too!

How many activity points did you typically have left over every week? I usually hike, but it's been so rainy lately. I've kind of just worked out with her (lifting squatting etc) and haven't logged it. I'll try to do more activities and logging.
