I was positive with DD. I'm hoping to be negative this time since I want non medicated. I know it is still possible just one more hurdle. I'm not stressing about it though.
My midwife did say if I tested positive at 36w and went to my due date or after they would retest at 40w bc it could be negative by then since it comes and goes. It is also possible to test neg now and be positive by time of delivery. Either way they said there are other signs present so it still isn't a big deal.
I don't see the big deal about getting an iv. My major concern is that I'm allergic to damn near every antibiotic lol.

I'm positive as well, and while I don't really mind the antibiotic, I was really hoping to get home ASAP after delivering; but my Doc has a "non-negotiable" (her words) 48 hour observation period for babies who have GBS + mommas. That seem strange to anyone else?
I tested negative with my daughter at 36 weeks but my OB thinks I may have gotten it after the test because my daughter had the symptoms of gb strep after delivery. She got really sick right after delivery and ended up in the nicu for a week. They grow cultures for gbs and they were positive. I will be having the antibiotics this time regardless of its positive or negative.

Bummer! Atleast it's an easy fix when you're at the hospital! I have mine Monday.
"easy" if you don't have a history of precipitous labors! My second DD came in 1 hour 45 min from first contraction to birth. I was on in l&D for maybe 15 min before she was born. I worry about testing positive because I doubt I will have time or 2 rounds of antibiotics....

I'm just hoping to get the results back BEFORE I go into labor this time. Last time I had the test on Thursday and went into labor on Saturday 1am so they had to assume I was positive. Turned out to be negative. Bummer.
Does GBS positive only matter if you're planning vaginal? I was GBS+ last time, but ended up with a CS. They (and I) am planning an RCS this time. I assume they'll test anywa, but do you still do antibiotics if you actually have a CS? Hadn't thought about it before justnow.
Oh, and since I had an epi, the antibiotics weren't a thing at my last delivery.
Re: Positive Strep B
Bummer. I was positive with DD. I'm really hoping to be negative this time.
While it may "just be an antibiotic" getting to the hospital and hanging out with an IV isn't my preferred way to labor.

This. Even just the worry and burden of getting there and having enough time to get the full IV for at least 4 hours.
This, I am hoping to avoid the IV altogether. I get my test next week.

You need to complete the bag of IV antibiotics prior to delivery. The IV will be hooked up to you during labor.

Either way, not a huge deal to me. Maybe it's that FTM nativity.

Ditto!
I do not want to labor at the hospital. I want to be at home until I am ready to push. It is a very big deal to me.
