Hello, my baby is six months and one week old. We started solids around the five month mark. We were very impressed as she took to the solids very well. After her six month doctors appointment which happened on Wednesday., She all of a sudden does not want to eat the foods she one liked. This has Lasted for two days now. I am just wondering, maybe her schedule isn't my schedule? Should I throw the schedule out the window, and just learn to read her signs? Anyone else dealin with This? She is pursing her lips and turning her head. It is very frustrating, because she only wants her bottle. Also, she isn't holding her bottle yet? Anyone else six-month old not holding their bottle?
Re: Feeding. Schedule or not??
With solids I always did them when we were eating. I BF on demand and she got bottles at daycare on demand or 3 hours.
I think having the capability to hold their bottle and actually doing it are to different things. My DD#1 was not willing to hold her bottle till she was almost 1yr but could have done it way before.
I wouldn't worry about not liking foods she once liked....it is only the beginning keep offering.
I would continue feeding on your schedule. At this point in time solids are more for practice and to get used to tastes and textures, and not meant to make a significant portion of her diet, so she'll be fine if some days she eats little or nothing but her bottle.
My oldest was the only one I bottle fed (tried BF with her and it didn't work out, so I pumped, the other two were EBF) and she never held her own bottle. She weaned from bottles to cups at 10.5 months and that was when she started holding her own drink. It wouldn't have occurred to me that a 6 month old could hold their own bottle.
