Ghost stories

Alright I may get weird looks for this, but I'm interested in finding out if anyone else has had strange moments.

A couple of weeks ago I woke up and walked into our hallway and the radio downstairs was playing and sounded like old jazz. I ignored it for a second went and showered and when I came out it was off. The station that was on is not something we listen to. Well today when I got outta bed DH told me the radio was on again and on old jazz again. When I google stuff about the radio turning on by itself a lot of stories were about it happening during big life events, such as pregnancy. Like something is letting you know it's there to watch you. I also had a weird feeling my FIL was watching over DH and I right before our wedding.

Also early in my first pregnancy later ending in miscarriage out doorbell kept going off in the middle of the night. It would happen when DH was out working 3rd shift. The first night it happened I heard a teen boys voice say mom from downstairs.

Ok so am I just the weird person with possible paranormal activity or do you guys have stories to share. Any would be nice.

Re: Ghost stories

  • I don't have any stories to share, but I am so interested to read what everyone else has to say.  I am TERRIFIED of ghosts.  Like to the point of leaving my doors open instead of closing and locking them.  I am more afraid of seeing a ghost and not being able to get out of the house than I am of an intruder coming in my open doors.  Totally irrational, I know.  I tell myself I don't believe.  I once heard that if you don't believe then you won't be able to see anything.  Anyway, you have weird things going on, but you don't seem as scared as I would be :)  Sounds like paranormal activity to me.

This woulda scared the living daylights out of me.

Mine is not pregnancy or life-event related, but if you want stories...

I believe in spirits (good and evil) - not "ghosts"....if you want to make a specific distinction.  Minor difference, but yeah.

I lived in a house in college where I'm convinced there was a spirit, more micheveous than anything else.  I used to wear this necklace all the time, then twice in the course of a week, I would wake up, the necklace was still on, but the pendant (solid circle) had come off.  There was NO way to do that except take off the necklace, slide off the pendant, put the necklace back on.  Nothing was broken, and there was no gap where it could have slipped (rope necklace tied close with a solid circle pendant).  That scared me so much, I stopped wearing the necklace.  I always felt there was something watching me sleep.

It freaked me out, but I thought I was crazy, so I didn't tell anyone.  Then a couple weeks later, I had some friends over, and 3 of us all saw a figure - about 2.5' tall (we had no pets), run by the door of the living room.  When they saw it (with no prior knowledge of what was going on) - I was convinced.  Fortunately this was just a couple weeks before I moved.

  • I totally believe in ghosts. If I had one in my house, I would move in a heartbeat. The idea of someone being able to watch/interact with me without my control scares the crap out of me.

I went to college in a 100+ year old mansion, and it was ridiculously haunted. Every other person I knew there at the time had a story of something that happened to them, or something they saw, while we were going to school there. From the photo enlargers that would turn on by themselves, to the figure of a man in the basement, to the lights turning themselves back on after janitors turned them off, to my friend who saw a blue mist floating in one of our classrooms, it seems everyone had an experience. I was always terrified of running into something, but thankfully never did.

I too, cannot wait to hear from anyone else with stories. I have had a couple odd things happen, but not since I've been pregnant. The first was while driving with a friend around 11pm where a man ran in front of the car and my friend hit the breaks just as the man started to evaporate? For lack of a better word. Had she not been the one driving who had hit the breaks I probably would have thought that I imagined the incident. It is very real and clear to us both even years later. I also lived in a small, very quaint house where things would move in my room between 2 and 4am. One night I woke up as a large painting had fallen on top of me. The painting had hung above my bed for at least a year prior to that night. In that same room I also woke to things falling off the shelf around the same early morning hour. I have tried to find some comfort in these things over the years but honestly I cannot help but feel spooked over them.
  • That is creepy! I would be scared. Since I've been pregnant I've had 3 dreams that came true. Very specific.

First one, someone calling the name Johnny really loudly everything else black. I woke up and it was 4:01am. Woke my husband up because it scared me. Next morning my grandma calls and tells me my aunts boyfriend Johnny had a heart attack last night at 4am and died.

2nd was a speed boat crash very horrific. Two days later there was a bad one in my town and it was the same boat from my dream.

3rd one was my husband screaming in the bathroom with the door locked and me trying to get in. That week he was passing his kidney stones and in the same bathroom screaming. When I ran over and tried opening the door. I notice on my right hand I was wearing the same bracelet in my dream... A bracelet that was just given to me a couple hours before that same day but had no idea about it before my dream. I was horrified.

I have so many dreams so I have no idea which ones will actually happen. So scary.
  • Note to self, don't let wedding06 have dreams about you! Lol.

All kidding aside, we've had a couple incidents at my house in Oregon.

    1. My dog would always start at the ceiling in the living room growling and hiding near my legs. I thought not much of it until....

    2. DS was playing with his new toys after his first Christmas and I notice an orb in the picture right next to him!!! This was not a speck of dust or a lighting issue. I snapped 3 pics within seconds of each other without moving and this one photo was the only one

    3. DS's 2nd bday there was another orb near him while playing with a new toy! Makes me wonder if this spirit is a little kid

    4. When DS was a baby I heard a blood wrenching scream come through his baby monitor and I go bolting to his room to find him passed out! He wasn't sniffling as if a bad dream, nothing! I'd debunk this as a neighbor baby crying and my monitor picking it up but we didnt have any neighbors!!!
  • I've always noticed things since I was really little. The scariest was once when I was like 10 I had fallen asleep watching a movie in my room & felt a very cold hand touch my face & wake me up. When I opened my eyes no one was in my room, so I walked to the kitchen where my aunt was & asked if she woke me up. She didn't. When I was 14 we were living in an older house & I always saw what seemed like the top of blue hat on a small child out of the corner of my eye. Then when we moved (16-17) I went to bed early one night and you know how you sort of wake up groggy & usually fall right back asleep? Well, I had just opened my eyes a little and I swear I saw a tall man coming toward me and I started screaming, my aunt ran into my room and turned the light on. Nothing was there. It took me forever to go to sleep that night. I don't know if it means anything but when I was little my grandmother & mother had a bunch of weird psychic-y friends who'd always chant around me & say I was an "Indigo Child" Weird life man.

  • I've had experiences my whole life.  I use to see shadow people in my room as a child and I see mists and shadows now as an adult.  I get touched all the time and things get thrown in my house.  Sage and holy water have become my new best friends just so my experiences are less frequent and I know they're positive.  I've only had a couple experiences that have truly frightened me.  The first was an entity that use to follow me around in my late teens.  It terrified me, I could sleep alone because it would be hovering over me.  The second time was in my early 20's.  I was laying in my friends bed and I felt hands come through the  mattress and launched me out of the bed.
  • my college apartment had something.  It would do mischievous things like hide my keys when i needed to leave.  i would look all over and under the living room and bedroom, only to come out and find them sitting on the table or the arm of the sofa.  multiple friends corroborated that i wasnt just blind, the keys hadnt been there before.  later it was less so, a glass slid a few feet on the counter into the sink and shattered while i was washing dishes.  no water on the counter or vibrations that would account for the speed.   the thing was, i always felt it near the back bedroom of the apartment, near my friend's room.  his dad committed suicide when he was young, and i always wondered if it wasnt attached to him somehow.  when he moved out most of the weirdness and bad vibes stopped.

MH had some very unpleasant experiences with a condo after college. this is making me nervous for the big move in a couple of weeks.  the house is relatively young for where we live (50s) and i didnt get any bad vibes (obviously), but I completely forgot to ask about a history of haunting.  realtors are actually required to disclose any such history if questioned in our state.
