So this is really confusing to me.
My son used to eat table food 3x a day. He was never a big eater but he did like to feed himself finger foods.
All of a sudden he is not wanting to eat(its been 4days), not even cheerios(his fave).
I don't see any new teeth coming down, so I don't think its teething. He has had his first cold this past week but he has no fever anymore and is about 6 days into it.
He'll drink water and nurse all day but refuses to eat. Im not sure if I should wait this out, call the ped or what else?
Any advice? Thanks so much in advance ladies!
Re: Suddenly refusing to eat solids...
Sorry your LO is not eating too. Its hard not knowing whats going on with them!
Yeah, thank goodness we're not weaning yet. Otherwise I would be more worried.
LO used to love to hijack the food on my plate. But the last day or so he would just walk up to my plate and feel the food and that's it. He wouldn't even attempt to eat it like he used too.
Kyle went through this for 3 weeks and is just getting over his aversion to food now. He went from eating everything to turning up his nose at EVERYTHING. He would whack the spoon out of my hand and cry when he sat it. Towards the end he was barely even eating his favorite sweet foods (banana, etc.). I was freaking out during those weeks, especially when he visibly got skinnier.
Then just as suddenly he went back to his almost-normal eating habits. Basically it was just a phase, albeit a stressful one since it lasted a couple weeks. Just had his 1 yr pedi appointment today and the doc said it's normal for kids to go through this phase where they get bored of food.
I'm thankful that he's over it. Hang in there ladies - I'm sure it'll pass for you all too. Just don't force your kid to eat when they don't want to. I did this and all it did was make Kyle suspicious of the spoon so that he wouldn't even open his mouth for anything.
