baby moving more when laying on one side vs the other

When I lay down at night I often switch sides.  I will often start laying on the left side but then switch to the right (yes I know the left is supposed to be better)  Anyway when I lay down at night on my right side for some reason LO moves around alot more.  Anyone else have experiences like this or know why it happens?

  • I don't know why it happens, but I definitely am right there with you. I know that lying on your left side helps with blood flow, I am just not sure why that translates into more right-side movement. I will say that I don't get the impression that LO likes it when I am on my right, so I do my best to stay on my left.

  • I def feel more movement when I'm laying on my left side, but I know that LO likes to hangout on the right...so perhaps it's taking away space and they are adjusting. That's my guess anyways lol

  • Mine usually moves around more when I'm on my right, and she generally likes to hang out more on my right. When I lay on my left my arm falls asleep a lot so I definitely end up on my right side more. For some reason that arm doesn't fall asleep nearly as often. Oh well!

  • I usually start on my right side cause then I am facing dh, and baby seems to kick a lot more then when iI turn onto my left side. My thought is little one doesn't want me falling asleep on my right side, so kicks and moves to keep me up :)
  • Baby kicks me a ton when I'm laying down, period. Right side, left side, even the few mins I lay on my back. This kid is crazy!!

  • Because you rock baby to sleep during the day when you are up moving around.

My baby is always more active when I lie on my right side.  when I lie on my left, he/she is still a bit active, but not nearly as "chuck norris".
  • My little girl is the same way, to the point where if I haven't felt her for a while I will lay on my right side just to get her started. I wonder what it is about the right side?
