Braxton Hicks ??

I've been having this weird feeling for about half an hour now ... I'm laying on back and I feel my stomach muscles tighten up doesn't hurt but my stomach gets hard and then after 5 to 10 seconds my muscles relax again ... And then after 10 to 20 seconds it repeats. I don't know if this is Braxton hicks and if it could affect the baby at all ?? I'm a FTM so I'm worried about EVERYTHING haha and I'm 19 weeks!

Re: Braxton Hicks ??

  • I don't know much about BH since I didn't have them my first time around, but I would say at this point in your pregnancy it's probably better not to lay on your back. I've also heard that drinking lots of water can help with BH.

  • Try walking around and see if it goes away...can you call labor and delivery triage to see if you need to go in?
  • It sounds like Braxton Hicks. My belly hardens for about 10 seconds when I get them.  I don't get them over and over. I do tend to walk a bit when I have them though so that could be why.  I didn't have any with my first two pregnancies so when it happened this time around about 4 weeks ago it made me stop in my tracks.  I didn't think I'd get new symptoms!  I think they can be caused by not enough water(amongst other things) so make sure to drink plenty.
  • It's normal for Braxton hicks to start now. Drink more fluids, I know that sounds cliche, but it helps. I'm on 6, pretty knowledgeable about this. Don't stress.
