TTC After a Loss

¤°.¸¸.?´¯`»? TTCAL Newbie Check-In ?«´¯`?.¸&#

For mobile:  BFP mentioned

Welcome to TTC After Loss. I'm so sorry for your loss but am happy you have found us. ((hugs)) This board is full of brilliant and kind women who have experienced the hardship of losing that which is most precious, and I hope you find great comfort and support here in your journey to your rainbow baby.

For those of you so new you don't know the routine, this is a checkin for newer members of the TTCAL Board. My board name is gscoville, but you can just call me G or GS.  Please feel free to use this space to ask those "newbie" questions that feel intimidating to ask on the main board, I will try my best to get you an answer.

Please take the time to read the TTCAL blog to answer any questions you may have regarding our board etiquette, TTC, miscarriages & loss, and much more: https://www.ttcalblog.blogspot.com/   If you are a checkin regular and get a BFP, please PM me so that I can add it to the weekly checkin with a warning for other members.

Finally, if you haven't done so, please post your introduction on the main board including your story.

For everyone else: How are you doing? Any news besides what I've asked about here?  Please, if you missed last week?s checkin so don?t have an update here to reply to, post an update and let me know how things are going for you!

**Thank you all for waiting patiently for me to get this week?s checkin done.  We got in last night after two days of driving, it was so good to be home, although our trip was pretty amazing.  I?ll be putting together some pictures and a post all about it soon!

???????????????????

Updates from last week:

*Congrats LiaMadi1 on your BFP, happy and healthy 9 months to you!

Mrs+Hebert:  Haha yes, hubby and I really do have a majority of our sex in the mornings, I never realized how much until I started charting and saw it there on paper!  How did your appointment with the RE go?  Your temps seem to be all over the place, that can be so frustrating, I hope you can figure things out with the help of your RE soon. ((hugs))

Oh, and I love that you do animal voices, sounds like fun!

L&C2010:   If you can, still keep temping even if you drink on the weekends, unless you?re getting hammered your temps will likely not be too affected, and even if you end up temping later because of sleeping in as long as you have your three hours of sleep you should be ok.  Worth a try anyways!

You?ll have to show us your monkey face sometime. ;)

LaRomana09:  You?re a newbie as long as you want to be, I think you did just miss the last week?s checkin and I base each week?s update on the previous week?s posts.  I?m so glad you found my cervix advice to be helpful!  I really think all of this charting and body stuff should be taught in schools, all girls should have this knowledge by the time they become adults/sexually active.

Cool about the birthday cakes, what fun!

ksyknelvr73:    ((hugs)) I?m sorry you are on to a new cycle as of today, things can be so wonky still this close to a recent loss.  FX things settle down for you this cycle!

I sure wish I could sing.  I mean, I sing to myself in the car all the time, but I have no delusions that I do it well.  I?d love to have your talent!

tdf2010:  FX for a not-so-boring O time for you this cycle! How is the clomid treating you?

Mr. & Mrs. Woodtick:  Are you getting beta blood draws done weekly?  It sure can be a long and frustrating wait for those levels to go down to zero, FX it happens quickly for you.

Tongue rolling is totally a talent ? I sure can?t do that!

katiebartton:   I?m so sorry you have to go for another D&C ((hugs)).  FX all goes well for you as you move forward.

Dance Dance Revolution is hard as heck, I?m impressed!

maydaygirl590:  Looks like you might be gearing up to O soon ? and might I say, that?s a pretty impressive sex regime you?ve got going there, way to go!

So do you have a specific recipe for your pizza?  Sounds like a great talent to have!

shandorfml2:  A new cycle, yay!!  So glad you?re finally on to a new one and know for now just what your body is up to.  FX this next cycle isn?t such a mind bender for you.

aztoid2006:  I?m sorry you?re on to a new cycle ((hugs))  Are you new to charting this cycle?  Please be sure to ask if you have any questions about it.

Tongue to nose, impressive!

hlmlvt:  Looks like you?re gearing up to O soon, yay!  How are you finding the CBFM?

I think being able to do anything both handed is a great skill!

tubby106:   Yay for confirmed O, now FX those temps go up and up for you!

I love when people can do animal impressions, what fun!

mandiroo:  Looks like you confirmed O for the day of last week?s checkin, yay!  I know just what you mean about running out of steam, MH and I managed 4 days of sex EOD and that was all we could do, I O?d later than expected and wanted another last day but we just couldn?t get it done.

Haha that?s exactly what I always say about my thumbs, I?d be a good hitchhiker!

stufie:  ((hugs)) I?m sorry you?re nearing that one year mark and just really hope this cycle is the one for you!

Neat how you can make your voice sound like your singing partner?s!

nyg2042:  Oh man, another member with a new cycle between last week and this, I?m so sorry! ((hugs))  I agree with hating the roller coaster that is TTC, sometimes it really can be too much.

I can?t roll my tongue but am always fascinated by those who can!

kistyW13:  ((hugs)) and FX those betas start dropping for you!

Do you enjoy problem solving-type games?  What a great skill to have!

Quote of the Week:

??????????????????? Question of the Week:  What would you consider to be your biggest pet peeve? If you can't narrow it to one, list two or three. My biggest pet peeves would have to be bad drivers and intolerant people (bigots, racists, etc.).  I could probably list a dozen more but I'll leave it at this! lol

Thanks! and she's on her way out and I'm loaded with OPKs. Time to get serous lol. I'm talking to my doc about going on metformin to help shorten my cycles. It made me sick last time I tried but I'm willing to try again.

  • Hi GS, thanks for the check-in!  Glad your trip was awesome, can't wait to hear about it!

tubby106:   Yay for confirmed O, now FX those temps go up and up for you!

I was glad O was confirmed, H was tired, lol.  We had pretty good BD timing also.  I had a weird temp drop today (CD 22/5 DPO), don't know if I was mouth breathing or what. Hopefully they stay up! I plan on testing next Thurs (if no AF before then), we have a wedding to go to over the weekend and I want to know if I need to bring tampons along or not since AF is *supposed* to be due Fri. or Sat.

QOTW:  I have so many!  1. Incorrect pronunciation of words (Valentimes instead of Valentines). 2. Improper use of their, they're and there (and other similar words like herd and heard). 3.  People who are late.

  • Thanks for the check in!  I hope that you had a nice trip and that all the traveling went well!

aztoid2006:  I?m sorry you?re on to a new cycle ((hugs))  Are you new to charting this cycle?  Please be sure to ask if you have any questions about it.

So I have now started to chart.  I took my first temp this morning and have started the tutorials on Fertility Friend.  2 questions:

Do you start using OPK's the day after your period ends?

Can you take your temp in the morning after you hit the snooze button, or when the alarm goes off the first time?  (honestly, I didn't sleep well last night because I was worried about taking my temp and doing it wrong.  LOL!)

I added a link to my sig for Fertility Friend, can someone check it for me and see if my user name is the same?  This is all new for me.  Uhhh.

Question of the Week:  What would you consider to be your biggest pet peeve? If you can't narrow it to one, list two or three.

My pet peeves are dumb...If you walk into/out of a room with the door shut, close it behind you.  If someone asks you a question (such as how are you/ chit chat kind of stuff), ask one in return.  These honestly drive me crazy (probably the teacher part of me!)

  • Hi, Mind if I join?  I posted my intro on the main board last week, but if you missed it, I have a two year old son and we are trying for number 2.  I went in for my first US at 10 weeks and found out that LO stopped developing at 6 weeks.  We waited a week, had a follow up US followed by a D&C on 5/23/2013.  We waited a cycle before trying again.

I like riding my bike, playing celtic fiddle, snuggling with my dog and two cats and I read an obscene amount.

I had a positive OPK on Monday so will be starting the 2ww in the next couple of days.

QOTW:  My pet peeve is negativity.  I love my aunt, but she complains about everything and it drives me nuts!

My shortest ever cycle since coming off BCP's was 28 days.  So I started testing on day 12.  I found this chart on the Wondfo OPK's helpful to deciding when to start. https://www.ushealthtests.com/wondfo-ovulation-dip-test-package-insert.pdf.

I temp when my alarm first goes off, then hit snooze and sleep. (Otherwise I forget if I don't temp at first alarm).

I didn't see your username on your chart. =[

Thanks for checking in GS! I told my hubby what you said about our BDing and he said to say thank you for noticing! Lol. I hope my temps confirm O soon. My temps are being wacky and I take my hat off to those ladies who are religiously temping through each cycle. Personally, it's stressing me out and I think I might skip next cycle. I do have a specific recipe I use for my pizza crust recipe. It's simple yet delicious.

QOTW: My biggest pet peeve is missing socks! I hate after washing and drying all the laundry only to discover some missing socks! It's the worst and drives me batty.

  • HI GS! thanks for the check in!!!

Happy 4th to everyone i hope its enjoyable!!

katiebartton: I?m so sorry you have to go for another D&C ((hugs)). FX all goes well for you as you move forward.

Sorry if this is long.  The D&C went well they also found a polyp (which on the ultrasound they thought was part of the leftover tissue)  they were able to remove that.  She said it could or could not have been contributing to the previous MC (who knows but happy its out! )   She was concerned with a very large cyst on my left ovary that has increased in size in a very short period of time.  She said at this time i am now TTA for 6-8 weeks while they monitor it which makes me frustrated but i understand at the same time.   If the cyst continues to increase I will mostly likely have to get a lap, ive never had one but sounds pretty scary compared to the D&C.  She also prescribed progesterone for 14 days to give AF encourgagement for a visit. (FX!)  I go for my follow up on the 9th and hoping for news of a shrinking cyst and a green light for TTC

Not sure if this is a newbie question exactly but: My doctor mentioned she hoped the progesterone prescribed would help "shrink" my ov cyst.  I was curious if anyone had success with that?  Dr Google gives conflicting info

Question of the Week: What would you consider to be your biggest pet peeve? hmm thats a tough one... i guess people who dont listen?  Or people just being rude/disrespectful.  I try to treat others how I want to be treated.

  • Hi gscoville! Glad to hear you had a nice trip, welcome home!

mandiroo:  Looks like you confirmed O for the day of last week?s checkin, yay!  I know just what you mean about running out of steam, MH and I managed 4 days of sex EOD and that was all we could do, I O?d later than expected and wanted another last day but we just couldn?t get it done.

Yes, I did finally confirm O. Our timing was good, but, we'll see what happens. I've had a headaches the past couple of days and a little crampy today. Not sure if AF is knocking on my door or what. Time will tell.

Question of the Week:  What would you consider to be your biggest pet peeve? If you can't narrow it to one, list two or three.

I have lots of those. Some of the biggest ones are bad drivers (which we have a LOT of), misuse of words (i.e. their, they're, there), screaming at and belittling (sp?) children in public. I'm all for discipline, but I don't like to see kids being put down by their parents.

  • Hi gscoville! Sorry I missed the check in last week. I was in training all day and I went the Jimmy Buffett concert at night. It was super fun!

Update: I think I o'ed on Monday so I'm hoping my temp stays up tomorrow so I get CHs to confirm. If I did O, I think our timing was pretty good but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

QOTW: I know this sounds super crazy but I can't stand the sound of hiccups. I hate when I have them but I really can't stand when other people around me bag them. I pretty much have to go to a different room because the sound drives me crazy. Oddly enough, my DH got me a puppy last year for my birthday and she got hiccups whenever she ate but they didn't seem to bother me at all.
  • I?m so glad you found my cervix advice to be helpful!  I really think all of this charting and body stuff should be taught in schools, all girls should have this knowledge by the time they become adults/sexually active.

Thanks for checking in, GS!  AF is just winding down, so I'll get a chance to put my new cervix knowledge to the test.  I will try to do what I can with CP, although I'm sure that will be hard at first, but at least I can check CM at the source.  I totally agree that this stuff should be taught in schools!

QOTW:  My pet peeves are people who drive in the left lane when they're not passing, and people who walk aimlessly while texting and get in my way.

ETA: Can't wait to see pics from your trip!

QOTW: Bad drivers! Those who are inconsiderate and don't signal, drive at inconsistent speeds, or who take forever to make a turn.

  • nyg2042:  Oh man, another member with a new cycle between last week and this, I?m so sorry! ((hugs))  I agree with hating the roller coaster that is TTC, sometimes it really can be too much.

Yep, on to a new cycle.  I'm back on the temping bandwagon, and I'm just hoping to O sooner this time around.  I'm feeling pretty relaxed right now, but we all know that could change a week from now.  I'm thinking I will probably start OPKs around 8 days from now (so CD 14).  Last cycle, I o'd around CD 26, but before my loss it was CD 19. I just don't want to miss it!

Question of the Week:  What would you consider to be your biggest pet peeve? If you can't narrow it to one, list two or three. People who leave their blinkers on after switching lanes and poor grammar.

I had some weird temp dips post-O too, 5 and 7 DPO. My whole cycle has been odd, I think just when I think I've figured my body out it likes to throw me for a loop.

Oh and I totally share all of your pet peeves! I'm an admitted grammar-enunciation snob although I at least don't go around correcting people. My mom and aunt both always say "I seen..." as in "I seen him across the street" and I have to bite my tongue so hard!

So I have now started to chart.  I took my first temp this morning and have started the tutorials on Fertility Friend.  2 questions:

Do you start using OPK's the day after your period ends?

It really depends. If you tend to have a longer cycle, you could probably wait to start OPKs until say CD10 or so. If your cycles tend to be shorter, then perhaps around CD7-8. I've typically had shorter cycles and when I first started charting I O'd on CD10-11, so sometimes would start getting positives by CD8.

Can you take your temp in the morning after you hit the snooze button, or when the alarm goes off the first time?  (honestly, I didn't sleep well last night because I was worried about taking my temp and doing it wrong.  LOL!)

You should take your temp when your alarm first wakes you up, not after you've snoozed. Even if you go right back to sleep after hitting the snooze button, you won't be sleeping as heavily as you were when the alarm first woke you and that could mess with your temps.  Most therms save your temp, so even if you are still half asleep when you temp you don't have to do anything with it at the time, just go back to sleep and enter the temp on FF when you get up later.

Edited: For spelling and to add the QOTW. Apparently I can't spell well while mobile bumping.

Haha glad to give your hubby an ego boost! I think I can actually count the times I've ever had all socks come out of the dryer matching, because I'm so shocked when it actually happens for once and I make note of it! Lol

HI GS! thanks for the check in!!!

I had a lap for removal of my ectopic, and it wasn't really as bad as I expected. The worst was probably the bloating afterward, it was a good few weeks before that went down and I just was somewhat uncomfortable all around. But the pain from the surgery itself was pretty manageable with the T3s I was prescribed and I was up and moving about pretty well within about three or four days, stopped taking pain meds by then too. Unfortunately I don't know anything about your progesterone question, maybe if you post about it on the general TTCAL board you might get some 'experts' chime in with some advice and experience around that.

Hi gscoville!

Cool concert!! FX those temps stay up for you.

I?m so glad you found my cervix advice to be helpful!  I really think all of this charting and body stuff should be taught in schools, all girls should have this knowledge by the time they become adults/sexually active.

I still have trouble pinpointing my CP, I'm getting better at high-medium-low, but soft-med-hard and open-med-closed are still aspects I have trouble with. It really is something you figure out more the longer you do it. Ohhh, and the left lane driver thing, I HATE that, either pass quickly or get the eff out of the lane!

Yes!!! Having a great week on vacation, anniversary was Monday!!! Got Wonderflo's positive and CBFM peak today. Super excited!!
So far monitor is working well. Little getting use to it but easy to use.

Pet peeve. Why can't people use blinkers when they are changing lanes or turning. That drives me crazy!!!!!

Thanks for checking on us this week!!!
    Happy 4th everyone!!!

I think being able to do anything both handed is a great skill!

We went on vacation last week, so I didn't get on and respond to the check in.  We had a fabulous week in a cottage on a lake in Northern Michigan, along with some of my brothers and sisters, and a bunch of nieces and nephews.  It was fabulous, but exhausting!

In other news, I did finally stop bleeding.  So I spent the whole week with almost no bleeding (very light spotting here and there), which was great for the trip, and allowed me to feel like I was getting through things.  Now we're back, and just waiting for AF to show.  Here's hoping it won't take forever!

QOTD : I am sure I have a million pet peeves, but off the top of my head, I hate when people are late.  I just don't think it's that hard to get yourself somewhere on time!!

  • Hi Gsco! Sorry I'm late... On vacay with DH.

I'm thinking the crazy temps are from different times waking due to being on vacation, plus I think being in FL makes a difference too. RE said I had a CP, so I guess I can get PG just can't stay PG. He has now switched me from clomid to Letrozole in hopes that it will not deplete my ute lining which could be part of the problem. Its really too bad I'm not in my FW yet, this is the first time DH and I have had the time to hang out and BD with no pressure for a long time! Having lots of fun though!

  • Hi G! Happy 4th and hope you are well!

We are TTC this cycle so we're excited once again. I've been taking Synthroid to raise my thyroid levels (1st 8 weeks yielded NO change so we upped dosage). In addition, I've been charting temps, noting CM, and just started using OPKs so I hope this is our lucky month! Of course, the issue I had was not *getting* pg but *keeping* the pg, due to a bad egg causing trisomy 10. So, I'm a wreck over that still. How many bad eggs do I have? Will this next O be a bad egg too? What if they're all bad? Sh!t like this weighs on my mind all the time. I'm not that religious but the phrase "Let go, Let God" comes to mind often. Cautiously optimistic is my state of mind these days. FX!

QOTW: My biggest pet peeves are: when people just ramble on about themselves without asking you how *you're* doing and people who are *loud* on purpose bc they need attention.

  • *Congrats LiaMadi1 on your BFP, happy and healthy 9 months to you!

Mr. & Mrs. Woodtick:  Are you getting beta blood draws done weekly?  It sure can be a long and frustrating wait for those levels to go down to zero, FX it happens quickly for you.

My betas were down to zero in early June, but my OB wanted me to wait a minimum of three weeks after they were at zero before she would run the RPL panel. I finally got it drawn on Tuesday. I don't know if that is standard, but I didn't question her. We were on a two month break cycle and DH had back surgery so we had to wait to TTC on our own again anyway.

??????????????????? Question of the Week:  What would you consider to be your biggest pet peeve? If you can't narrow it to one, list two or three. My biggest pet peeve would be slow drivers in the passing lane, and coworkers who don't team well.

After 4 years, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs our surprise miracle is here!

  • Well, I'm a little late since I wasn't able to come on to the board yesterday at all...

ksyknelvr73:    ((hugs)) I?m sorry you are on to a new cycle as of today, things can be so wonky still this close to a recent loss.  FX things settle down for you this cycle!

I sure wish I could sing.  I mean, I sing to myself in the car all the time, but I have no delusions that I do it well.  I?d love to have your talent!

I'm trying to look at the positives of not getting a BFP this time - I really needed to focus on my last few days of studying for my exam and I know if I had gotten a BFP I would have been completely distracted! Also, we're going to the beach in 9 days and this means I can have all the adult beverages I want while we're there. : )

I just love singing. A few of my family members are very musical and I love music as well. Being a part of the praise band and using my talent for something to give God glory is definitely something that I cherish.

Question of the Week:  What would you consider to be your biggest pet peeve? If you can't narrow it to one, list two or three. I think I have a LOT of pet peeves...LOL. I think the biggest is spelling/grammar errors - the ones that are very obviously people who genuinely don't know that it's wrong, and they are usually very basic. It drives me up the wall. I also have a pet peeve of people who constantly take selfie pics and post all 3205749679367 of them on a daily basis.
