Just saw a picture of Avril Lavigne's black wedding gown. I'm not a fan of it--or any black wedding gown. I'd rather see a pale color like champagne or blush or something instead.
Sarah Jessica Parker wore a black dress when she married Matthew Broderick. I saw an interview with her a few years ago where she said that was her biggest regret in life. I'm a traditionalist, so I love a white dress, but I agree, blush or pink or champagne are pretty too. Black just seems too "funeral" for me.

I agree that it seems she is just trying too hard.
I had a champagne colored wedding dress and loved it. Most people were shocked when I they saw the color but I felt it looked so much better then white on me.
I think that's really dumb and it's like a bad omen for the wedding. I like champagne or pinkish dresses. I mean really, how many of us should REALLY be getting married in white. I know 0 couples who have gotten married and were virgins.
I'm not a fan of all black wedding gowns, but have seen a few people married in white/ivory with a black accent like a shrug or sash and they looked very elegant. I'm not super traditional about most things, but a light colored dress for your wedding day is one of the few traditions I love!
As far as Avril goes, I just think she's tacky. Her marrying the Nickelback singer = perfect match.

Traditionally, the white gown didn't become a thing until the Victorian era, made popular by Queen Victoria. It had nothing to do with purity at the time, but you know how obsessed we tend to get over royal weddings... Just trendy.
I just think white dresses are pretty. How many occasions does a girl get to wear a poofy white dress? Black, or any other color, can be worn at any event.
I was really torn, for my wedding, between traditional white and a red gown.nbsp; Red is my favorite color and when I was younger I always said I'd have a red one.nbsp; I went with white because it was much harder to find a red one that I liked.nbsp; But I don't think just the fact that a wedding gown is red or black means that it's tacky.nbsp; What matters is the quality of the design, fabric, and tailoring.nbsp;I know someone who was married in a stunning red and black gown.nbsp; She looked amazing.nbsp; And FTR, she and her husband had been together for some time beforehand, have been married for several years, and have a beautiful little girl.
The colors can be a cultural thing. My friend had a traditional Indian ceremony and she wore red. Apparently white is the color for funerals and mourning. Please forgive me if I'm misquoting her exactly.
Eh, it's her second wedding, she probably wanted to do something different. I would too for a second wedding or vow renewals. Her first wedding was very traditional and princessy.
Just why? You can wear a black dress any time. She tries too hard to be different and edgy, she needs to give it up.
This. She needs to quit lol she's in her late 20s and still acting 17. It's pathetic.
I agree I like white or very pale colors for those who have married prior. I wore ivory and I was apparently 7 weeks pregnant on my big day looking back if I had known I still would've worn my dress because it was a BRIDAL GOWN, ya know what brides wear! Lol
Re: black wedding dresses--WDYT?
My BFF went with a red dress. Of course, pretty much everything about her wedding was tacky.
I'm traditional. I like white.
I did like Jessica Beil's pink wedding dress. I thought she looked gergeous.
Link? When I google I see her in a white dress... A pretty average one at that. (IMO)
