My DS is 7 weeks (2 weeks adjusted) and is currently on Neosure. At first I was pumping and giving him fortified BM with 1/2 tab of Neosure. Lately my supply has dropped dramatically and nothing was helping increase it (I tried mothers tea, fenugreek, oatmeal, etc) so we decided there was no other option but to EFF. We gradually increased the formula and decreased the BM where hes only eating FOrmula now. The pedi wanted him on the high calorie formula until at least his 2 month check up on the 29th since he still has some catching up to do.The problem now is it seems just the Neosure seems to be making him so gassy. He's been spitting up after almost every feeding, grunting, chocking and just uncomfortable since the switch. The feeding instructions sheet the pedi gave me also lists Enfacare as another option. I was wondering if anyone tried Enfacare? I'm not sure since its another high calorie formula it will be the same as Neosure? Does anyone have any idea if switching would help with the gas?
Re: Neosure vs Enfacare ?
We used Enfacare, but never tried Neosure. But every baby can react differently to different formulas. We ended up switching brands after we had moved to regular (non-high calorie) because it seemed to make her less gassy, so I would give the switch a try. It might make a difference, and it might not. If not, might you be able to fortify a regular fomula made for sensitive tummies?
We supplemented with Enfacare until I stopped BFing at 4 months. Then he got all Enfacare. I didn't like it because I thought it was hard on his sensitive little tummy, and made DS extra constipated after we switched over. They pedi made us stay on it for weight gain purposes (even thought that didn't seem to help, since he spits up so much). We finally got the go-ahead at his 6 months appt. to switch. We switched to Gerber Good Start Soothe, and we noticed a little improvement with the constipation.
I don't think there's too much difference among the two formulas, but you can give it Enfacare a try. If there aren't any weight gain issues, the pedi may recommend switching to something else completely.
