Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Amazon Mom / Prime

DH and I buy a TON on Amazon but have never signed up for Amazon Prime.  I recently heard of Amazon Mom.  I don't know too much about either.

Do you have either?  What are the benefits?  What all do you get from Amazon (baby-related)?

I know you save on shipping but are there any other perks that will convince me I need this.  Also, should I sign up for both or just 1?

 Thanks

Re: Amazon Mom / Prime

  • Well, we have it (accidentally; DH tried to do the trial, but instead bought the whole thing). We haven't used it yet though....

I think if you have Mom, you have Prime, and possibly vice versa.... Not sure on the vice versa part though...

The diapers on Amazon (with Mom) are only 1 cent cheaper than the ones we get at Walmart...Formula is about the same...

Like you said, you save on shipping, but Prime is FREE 2 day shipping with things that qualify.

I haven't looked into it enough to really know what else is available. Personally, I think its a waste of money, since we may not use in free shipping what we spent.

  • Formula is not cheaper on there, we actually get ours in bulk from CostCo. We do get diapers from Amazon, they are little cheaper then Wal-Mart...unless Target or another store is having a deal on them. We get our wipes from CostCo too, they are the cheapest that I can find (we stock up when they do the coupon).

We like it for some things, we've bought a lot of big items from there that we've saved on shipping (free two-day) like our BOB stroller, our convertible car seat, some diaper bags, an outdoor swing, we do buy diapers off of it...but honestly we get the best deals at CostCo...so we travel 50 minutes to get to the nearest one twice a month and we stock up on wipes, formula, laundry detergent, deodorant, shave gel and razors, diaper cream, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, spices/baking stuff, vitamins, etc.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • I have a prime membership and love, love, love it! The two day shipping is amazing and their pricing is usually in-line, if not better than in stores. If you do the subscribe and save for 5 items you get an extra 20% off. Each month we get diapers, granola bars, dog food, dog treats and coffee pods delivered. It's so nice.

Also as a perk you get access to the video streaming library and get to borrow one book a month from the kindle lending library. We've definitely gotten out moneys worth.

  • We have both (you have to sign up for each individually) and it is definitely worth it for us. We order from amazon at least weekly. The 2 day free shipping is wonderful, and we live close enough to a couple of Amazon warehouses that we often get our items the next day. Our diapers are also cheapest through Amazon mom and we subscribe and save to get an even bigger discount. If you use Amazon a lot, it's definitely worth getting a prime membership. You can also stream movies and stuff if you have Prime.

  • Thanks everyone! Have you found diapers to be cheaper through AMazon Mom or Prime vs. stores like Walmart or Target? Or is Mom and Prime same price?

I looove my Amazon prime. I use the hell out of that free shipping; I buy something or another at least once a week. It saves me tons of random runs to the store, and is so satisfying.

I also love that I can use it to ship last minute gifts to people.

And the 20 off home goods with five items per month is awesome too.
