Silly question about convertible car seats and sleep...

Ok, we made the move to a rear-facing convertible car seat this weekend, and so far, DD is loving it!  Silly question, though.  In her infant seat if she'd fall asleep when we got home or to our destination, we'd cover her seat with a blanket and bring her in so she could continue to sleep.

Obviously, now we can't do that.  I try to run errands between naps, but DD falls asleep even thinking about being in the car.  Any tips for me that don't include sitting in front of our building with a diet coke, waiting for her to wake up?

Our little Samosa arrives in January!

    You just carry her in. DS has always stayed asleep transporting him from seat to bed. You can't just sit there and wait.

  • I just carry DD in. She will usually stay asleep or fall back asleep as soon as I put her in her crib. Sometimes I bounce a little as soon as I take her out of the car and that also helps her fall back asleep.

    I always just carried DD1 in.  To this day she still falls asleep in her car seat.  Most of the time, she either stays asleep or quickly goes back to sleep once I bring her in.

    yes you can. sometimes you have to if you want them to have a good nap.  I've also drove around the block a few extra times to extend a nap.  They always wake up when you take them out, IME.

    Yeah my lil lady tends to wake when moved. Yesterday we sat in target's parking lot for a good 15 minutes because she needed a nap and mama needed some quiet!

    I agree, I've had to do the same thing. DD wakes easily from naps.

    I have always just sat and waited. DD doesn't transfer well. Plus, I enjoy alone time. This is why I still bring my knitting/crochet project everywhere. :)

  • We just made the switch last week and DS is not a fan.  He hated his carrier for the first month, but then liked it, so we are hoping the same happens here.  Anyway, he wakes up most of the time as well, unless it actually his bedtime, then I have been able to get him down in his crib right away.  If it's during the day though, he's up for good.  Very frustrating on busy days.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one hanging out in the Target parking lot;
    Our little Samosa arrives in January!
