Anyone else working on Friday?

There are about 6 people working at my office (myself included) out of about 16. I have no idea why we are open at all. Yesterday we got ONE phone call all day! But, I just can't justify using a perfectly good vacation day (I had to start over with accruing paid time off when I got back from leave). It's going to be pretty boring around here. Hopefully some of you out there are in the same boat, b/c I'm sure I'll be on here a lot!

I will be working too. I don't get a ton of paid time off and I'm not wasting a day, especially when daycare is open and its supposed to rain here anyways.

I might be working. We're still figuring out who will be watching DD, since preschool is closed and neither one of us gets a free day off. I'm leaning toward taking the day off, though.

I am, but I'm working from home. I have a ton of stuff to do and it's just not worth it to take a day off right now. I'd rather save my days for later in the year. But, I definitely don't want to be the only one on my team who is in the office...hence WAH.

Investment firm = only closed when the market is, and the market will be open Friday! 1/2 the office is taking a vacation day, and my boss said something about having a viewing of the movie "Trading Places" so we will see how productive we are!

I also can't see using a vacation day just to make it a 4 day weekend... same with the day after Thanksgiving.

I will be at work @ 1:15 am on Friday. I'm not looking forward to hearing the fireworks all night, but oh well. I will get a nap in before I have to pick kids up.

I am, but I'm leaving early to get my hair done while DS is at daycare. Plus, I'll be one of the only ones here that day anyway.

That sounds like a good work day! I completely agree about using a vacation day.

I'll be working too. Our office will be dead, but we have so much work to do that I will be crazy busy as usual. At least it will be quiet and there shouldn't be any meetings. Nothing cool planned, so not worth taking a vacation day for us either.

I'll be in the office also.. I work for a bank, so we never get the day after a holiday off - black Friday, the day before Christmas, New Years Eve, etc, we're federally required to be open. (The nice part is we get all kinds of miscellaneous Federal Holidays). And considering I don't have any vacation time left, I'll be here.

But it will definitely be a come in early, play around on the internet while NONE of my clients have any business needs, and leave early. We'll probably open the bar and have a cocktail or two also.

I will be one out 5 who will be working - fine with me, it will dead quiet.

I'm working...it will be dead quiet because I think the public will assume we are closed. So I'll get a lot of desk work done!

Yes I will be! Our daycare is open and we're not going out of town, so I'm heading in, for a little bit at least. I think I will be the only person in my entire department and our company will be quite empty. But it's a very busy time for me right now. I work in HR and are finalizing our year-end bonus awards, and my department is going through some restructuring, so I have lots of work to do. I like taking advantage of these days to get a lot of work done and not having to use my vacation time.

I am. We have to get special permission to take off after a holiday. However, I did get approved to come in late that day, so I'll be able to enjoy the fireworks on Thursday!

Nooooope. The partners at our firm agreed to close. We didn't have to go in today either. I love working at a private law firm. We set our own rules.

Working and looking forward to it. I get very little vacation and I just returned from a 5-day conference, so the quiet time to catch up on email etc and then be productive on Monday will be great.

DH always has to work today (the 4th), and every other Thanksgiving/Christmas/NYE, so we have different expectations for holidays in general.
