We are thinking of getting one for baby2 so I'm just wondering if anyone has any input on them? I know they all have to be up to the same safety standards but my grandma and aunt keep saying I should buy one and I don't see why not

This exactly. Love ours.

We use them at our cottage. They are safe and secure. I really like the lower profile.
We bought for at our house, American Restoration Hardware. My DH asked me what I wanted, and then told me I could order it. The whole nursery for two is from there.
Yup. I prefer the simpler Eurostyle cribs and finding an affordable crib without a headboard (which I loathe) was a serious challenge. The Ikea crib and mattress have both worked great for us.
We have one and it's working well for us so far. I like the fact that it has a small footprint.
A few things I don't like:
1) it only has 2 levels, so once DS can pull himself up, we'll have to lower it to the lowest level, which I suspect will be a strain on my back putting him down and lifting him up.
2) We got the sundvik, which I liked (before DS was born) because of the 2 solid panels on the short ends of the crib. However, I don't like them as much now as DS is constantly rolling around and he will bang his arms/legs/head whatever against the solid board to make sound.

I was all set to buy an ikea crib until I went to see it is person. They are VERY low to the ground. Not ideal for tall me and DH.
I'd look around...
