Pregnant after IF

Moving over and bad morning sickness

I was released from my RE's office yesterday ( except for still being on the meds) and we saw a heartbeat (6 weeks, 5 days) so I finally feel safe moving over!

I will be 7 weeks tomorrow and today I was absolutely crushed by horrible morning sickness - vomiting all day. And I have a 3 yr old so it's really hard to be sick - especially when he watches me throwing up and says "mama what are you doing? Can i Have some applesauce? Ugggghh

anybody else with really bad m/s? I'm thinking of trying the unisom b6 combo....

    Congrats and welcome!

I had really bad m/s. The only thing that kept me from puking was generic Bonine, which is an over the counter motion sickness drug. OB was worried, I would lose weight and get dehydrated if I didn't take something. He said it was safe if I had to take it throughout the entire pregnancy. M/s lasted for 19 weeks. It was the worst. FX that you feel better soon.

  • Yay welcome and congrats!!!! I started with the m/s around 6 weeks. Tried to tough it out but puking at work all the time just got to be too much so Dr prescribed Zofran which really helped. I try to take it only when I need it but he said it's safe to take every 8 hrs. I find that taking it before bed helps me feel good the next day versus taking it when I already feel nauseous. The comment about the apple sauce made me laugh! This is my first pregnancy so I can imagine how difficult this must be when you're already a mom. GL to you, I hope you find something that works!

  • throwing up all day would mean something more heavy hitting like zofran if i were you! You are at risk of dehydrating, and obviously can NOT function normally. i hope you get some relief soon.

WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE!

  • Welcome and congrats!

I'm so sorry the m/s is that bad.  All I can say is don't be afraid to get a prescription from your OB.  I wish I had done it earlier.  For me, all the other remedies (B6, unisom, sea sickness bracelets, eating constantly, etc.) had no effect.  Especially if you're vomiting that much, dehydration and lack of calories aren't great for the baby.  Also, if you go on Zofran, it is fairly common to develop a tolerance.  So if it seems to stop working or not work as well after a few weeks, switch.  That happened to me after about two weeks, and I switched to Phenergan, which worked really well for me.  Regardless, good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
