Since Facebook is more personal, I'd rather not allow people in I haven't had at least some interaction with. She hasn't even introduced herself. I even got uncomfortable when they added a few new people last week.

Look. I have seen responses to posts that have made me feel exactly what you describe, but this particular set of responses does not.

Imagine this scenario:

A complete stranger rings your doorbell while you are having a party with your girlfriends. The stranger asks to come in and join your party as the very first thing you ever hear them say. Do you let them in? What if they say, "But I've been watching your house and following your friends around for a really long time, so I feel like I know you really well!"

Creeped out yet? That is why this post deserves the side-eye.

Sorry, OP, but unless we got to know you a little (okay, A LOT) better I have absolutely no desire for you to know my first and last name. Nothing personal.

I don't accept people as friends on facebook who have no mutual friends or who I have no clue who they are, why would I want someone who hasn't even INTRO-ED or interacted with us at all to be able to see my page?

No one cares if someone asks a question for their first post (though i'd say that asking for a favor -- i.e., asking for advice -- for your first post is rude). But it's ridiculous for a totally unknown person to get bent out of shape (or for a random person to do so because of the "rudeness" of people attempting basic internet privacy) because internet strangers don't want them to have access to the personal information that becomes available through a FB group.

Oh FFS, you don't get why we would want to feel someone out before we allow them to see our names/pictures, etc? Many FB groups have gotten burned by creepers. I have seen it happen with two others I am a part of from DS1.

Stop acting like a martyr, this place is for entertainment not support, and if you stick around for a while, we'd be happy to add you.

It wasn't that you didn't want to add her to the Facebook group that I thought was rude (that I get). It was the thread of people basically laughing/mocking her. And it wasn't just one instance. There is this "insider" mentality on her that is just laugh out loud ridiculous. I'm not expecting rainbows and butterfly but I also don't expect this catty BS. Adios.

Actually, hun, this is one of the friendlier non-drama BMBs out there. Trust.

Some people started on this board when we got BFPs and it takes a while to settle in. Any message board will have that. Being butthurt instead of just getting to know people more won't help your case.

I completely agree. Some of the comments by regular posters made me feel so sad for the poor woman that posted. I will never understand why some people just can't be nice.

I honestly don't get why these comments are mean. We side-eyed her for asking about a Fb group as her first post and said we'd need to get to know her better since FB is you know, pretty sensitive information.

The "snark" started with the bazillon "support and this is obviously a clique" posts that came after from other posters. No matter what board you are on on TB, people get tired of those complaints about requesting puppies and rainbows.

I totally, 100% agree when it comes to adding people onto your Facebook. I just don't understand why grown woman need to make others feel stupid. I guess I just missed the boat on what these boards are for. I was looking forward to finally having time to make a few connections with other woman going through this experience for the first time and asking mothers with other children their advice on things that pop up. I thought that is what these boards were for. I didn't know that in order to be "accepted" by the others that you needed to have 1000+ posts. I just don't understand or appreciate the "Mean Girl" mentality....especially to people that you don't know. Oh well! I am off my soap box now.
