OP, I don't have triplets, but the book "Twin Sense" has a whole chapter dedicated to helpful tips on flying with twins, maybe you could get a few useful tips from that. Can you possibly bring an extra adult with you [your mom or MIL, for example?] I am planning a trip to the UK in November, but I only have twins...and they'll only be 7 months, not active toddlers! Good luck!!
We did a 5 hour flight with 18 month old twins and I'll be honest, it sucked. They were mobile, had opinions yet couldn't express them well, and weren't entertained by DVDs for long. They didn't sleep, even though we flew over nap time, and novel snacks were only vaguely entertaining. We did stickers and actually transferring ice between cups were the only things that kept them entertained for long. (Make sure to take a change of close for each kid plus the adults. I pack them in gallon ziploc bags because if you need a new outfit, you likely have a dirty one that you need to put somewhere!) The good news is that it gets easier as they get older.

We flew from New York to Utah with quads and it wasn't that bad. We had four adults. I bought a bunch of toys from the dollar store that they had never seen before and they were excited to play with those. We packed lots of snacks and squeezable baby food. Don't stress too much, the babies and other passengers can tell your stressed out. My babies were 15 months/12 months adjusted when we flew.
Re: longhaul flight with 20 month triplets
