Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Feeding changes? Advice Please!

So LO eats 5 times a day- 6am, 9:30am, 1:00pm, 4:30pm, and 8:00pm then is in bed by 8:30. Lately we have had a hard time getting her to finish a whole 5 oz bottle, which is what she has been drinking for a little over a month now. SO my question is, is LO maybe ready for a 4 hour schedule instead of the 3 1/2 one she is on now? Thinking maybe if we wait a little while between feedings she will eat better?  She doesn't even fuss or cry for food right now. I am just feeding her because thats the schedule she has put herself on the last month or so.

Right now, she goes to bed at 8:30pm and we wake her up at 6:00 am for her first morning feeding- I think she would sleep longer but we haven't tried. So what I am thinking now is letting her sleep until 7 or 8 and doing a 4 hour schedule?  I will need her on a 6 am morning feeding in the fall though, for when I go back to work.

HELP! ADVICE PLEASE!

Re: Feeding changes? Advice Please!

  • Hello!
My LO was.doing the same thing so I extended his bedtime until 9pm and now he finishes his bottle. There are sometimes when I feed a litle earlier when Inotice he is falling asleep. He sleeps until 8 to 8:30am and he is fine .However, if you need your LO to feed at 6am later I would advice to take advantage of the time right now at let her sleep so you can sleep. I am saying this because my LO eats without waking up whenever I need him to feed earlier, you should try :
    Good luck!

I would definitely not wake the baby to feed.. Also I would wait until baby seemed hungry..

I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!

  • Maybe follow her cues instead of the clock. My LO has days that he doesn't eat as much as his normal routine. I just let him eat when he is hungry and definitely never wake him up to eat. Yes schedules or routines are good but it's also important for baby to know when she is hungry on her own.
