internal pain above incision

Hey ladies,
I've never posted on this board, but I'm hoping yall can help me out. I'm a first time mom and I had my son via C-section on May 24. I'm not really sure what's "normal" during the recovery process so I'm having a hard time being able to tell the difference between expected aches and pains and when it's something to worry about.
I am 5 weeks pp, and the past few days I have noticed increasing pain internally about an inch to 2 inches above my external incision. It is very tender to touch, sitting up in bed is pretty painful, and today it's starting to become uncomfortable to walk. The external incision feels fine, I haven't had any issues with that for a couple weeks, which is why I'm a little concerned about this.
So, does anyone have any experience with this? Is it something I should ride out until my appointment in 10 days or is it worth getting checked out early?
Thanks!

I'm about 2.5 weeks PP and I've had the same kind of internal pain that you're describing.  I asked about it at my incision check last week and my doctor said it's from all the internal stretching they did during the surgery.  However, mine is a constant, dull ache that only gets worse when I feed DD and she sits right on my stomach or I go up and down the stairs a lot.  If your pain is getting progressively worse each day, I'd definitely call the doc.

  • I am in the same boat and I am 6wks pp.  Up until today, I had been having the same internal pain.  DD2 would kick it a lot while holding her and it would hurt when I coughed or sneezed.  I feel a lot better today. I hope you feel better soon and that it is just part of healing.

  • I had the same problem, A burning, stinging sensation about 1 inch from the incision. I called the advice nurse and was told that it was normal.

It sounds like pain from adhesions or scarred tissue which are normal. It does eventually go away and it may return in a subsequent pregnancy once the uterus stretches. Hope it gets better.
