anyone completely bottle free?

Sfm: anyone completely bottle free?
Amir doesn't l like drinking milk out of a sippy. He knows its for water and juice. I'm going to try him drinking it out of a straw. We've stopped bottles right st nap/bed time so I'm hoping that will help.
Any thoughts, tips from y'all 2 moms?

Nope.  We tried to switch out his bottles for sippy this weekend again and it didn't work.  He gets pissed and throws it around.  He loves the sippy for water though.

  • Nope. I can't get him to drink from a sippy. They did get him to drink out of the straw cup at DC yesterday. 4 whole ounces. But they had to hold it for him. :/ Otherwise he just bangs it around.

He has to be off the bottle at DC in 8 weeks. I guess as long as he'll take a sippy/straw at DC he'll be fine. Though it won't count if they have to hold it for him.

    No.

    :::sobs:::

He likes to hold and bang the sippy around, but he doesn't like drinking out of it.

Why so strict? I didn't realize DC were that serious. Eesh.....

Depends on the DC. The ones he's on the waitlist for isn't like that. Well, they sort've are. They do have to be off the bottle to go in the next room, but they don't have to move up to the next room at 12 mos. It's based on physical, emotional and mental development and they move up ideally in little cohort groups with 3-4 other kids. He'll probably be way past that point when he gets in, though.

  • Haha, we've been bottle free ( not by choice)since about five months, when he would absolutely refuse every bottle.

He will drink out of a sippy, but I have to tip it.  Water only.  Breast milk in the sippy gets pushed away.  I'm hoping that when the time comes WCM will be different enough that he will drink it out of the sippy.  The few times we have tried juice he was fine with it.

We are really close! She gets a sippy with formula in it with her 3 meals and has for months now. She does great with it. The only bottle she is currently getting is one between lunch and dinner. I am going to work on doing a snack and a sippy instead of that bottle over the holiday. So hopefully next week we will be bottle free!
  • No.  Charlotte just hit ten months and is a light solids eater.  She may eat formula out of a bottle a little past one year.  To me, this is no big deal.  We will get there eventually!

We did just buy a straw cup for water with meals and she likes it!

  • So close!! He still gets his morning bottle because he's a grump just like his mama in the mornings and doesn't want to be bothered with a cup. But he happily takes the cup for the rest of the day.

  • So I want to be bottle free by 1 year.  When I told the DC ladies, they laughed at me.  DS loves his bottles to much.

We are working on the sippy cup. He gets it, just makes a huge mess.

  • We are bottle free. DS is EBF so he's never really had a bottle. A random one here and there. He's started self weaning in the last month and I've started him on WCM. He had no preference between bottle and sippy, so I figured I might as well skip the bottles.

  • man I wish! we're not doing juice yet at our Pedi's rec, and she's not a fan of the taste of water.  she still only drinks out of bottles.  I've tried sippies and straw sippies... still waiting for her to get the hang of it.

  • We are bottle free. She has been feeding herself via bottle since 5 or 6 months maybe? I'll have to look at time stamps on pictures, but I just switched to a sippy cup a month or so later. I told DH to stop doing bottle a month after that, so now no bottle.
