Houston vbac

Anyone know of any doctors in Houston who have a high vbac rate?

Re: Houston vbac

  • I just had a vbac in Houston!! The Women's Specialists of Houston at the new Texas Children's Women's Pavilion are who I used. Known for their vbac support! Had an amazing experience. My Dr is Damla Dryden, but there are several others in the practice who are incredibly vbac supportive.

  • Yes!  I had my 2VBAC with the Baylor group at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women.  LOVED the entire team, and they respected and supported my birth plan the entire labor and delivery.  I cannot say enough good things about them Smile  Even the interns and residents were fantastic Yes

Ben Taub also has a fantastic VBAC rate, but I much preferred the facilities of TCH.

This is my doctor who I'm attempting a VBAC with in the next few weeks! Her and her PA have been great to me throughout the pregnancy and super supportive and encouraging of my birth preferences and use of a doula. Plus the Pavillion seems to be an amazing facility and I'm looking forward to delivering there. If you are interested in Dr. Dryden I'd be calling to try and get into her practice ASAP - she has a great reputation and with that I think she's selective about the size of her practice. She's worth it though. I have a lot of confidence in her, which is saying a lot after what i went through with my csection with a different doctor/practice. I could be wrong but I think Dr. Espana is the other doctor in the practice that takes VBAC patients, the others don't take VBAC patients but are supportive and deliver VBACs if they are on call and the primary doc can't get there.

anchalmasako - I saw where you posted below that you were in L&d but would LOVE to read your birth story! Congratulations and I was so excited to read you had an amazing experience with Dr. Dryden!

So cool that you also are using Dr Dryden! I have a short birth story posted here: https://m.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/70254578.aspx

I really felt that every decision made throughout the pregnancy was so intelligent and supportive of my vbac on her part. Plus, that that jacuzzi tub in the room allowed me to labor without epi for longer, to get to past 7 cm where I stalled out last time. Definitely take advantage of wireless monitoring and the tub if you can.

And a funny side note...I had a small first degree tear which required one stitch. Dr Dryden let the resident student stitch it, but took it out and showed her a better way because it, quote, wasn't pretty enough! I appreciated that! Haha.

I am ALL ABOUT that jacuzzi and wireless monitoring.  I also appreciate the "pretty stitch" story :-) Congratulations again!

  • Can you give me a referral? She is only taking new patients with a referral from existing patients!
  • Hello Everyone,

I just found out I am pregnant and previously had a c section done with my first. I researched VBAC doctors in Houston and found Dr. Espana but somewhat want a female doctor. I see many have delivered at the Womans Pavilion at Texas Childrens Hospital and wanted to hear more personal experiences. Also, is the wait time at the Womans Specialist of Houston pretty long?

    Thank you.
